Soraa 2W Blue LD & >4W Blue LD Array

I'm gonna call it now....the blues will be out before the green and they can't be the only company that's working on it. I bet in a year or two we'll be harvesting 3 or 4 watt diodes.

I can only dream of green diodes at this point. I can only hope they aren't as expensive as a DPSS of the same wavelength! But I can't wait for the multiwatt blues!

id rather see high powered single mode blues 500mW+ now that would be awesome ;)

I'm going to call it as well -

Soraa won't survive.

The bottom line is that they're too late to the game on blues, and too unpredictable on the green front.

4W of blue sounds impressive, but Nichia diodes that are in hobbyist hands now can do 2.5W. Don't you think Nichia has 4W blues that they tinker around with too? By the time Soraa actually gets a commercial 4W blue diode into production, I just don't think it will be newsworthy.

The same, to some extent, is true of greens. At least two companies have shipping direct greens now, that boast 50mW datasheet power. When is Soraa going to release some actual product? We've been hearing about them for ages, and if they don't release anything for another year, they'll be irrelevant.

The company will display its blue and green laser diode technology at its private suite at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Nevada, January 10-13, 2012.

No wonder I didn't see them when I was at the CES last week.

Naah, I think they'll be alright. But we'll see.

Yeah, their stuff was private, but did you at least go see Shuji receive his Emmy Award?
