Sonar Blu-ray Laser in 2025

Here's a video of the beautiful Sonar from Wicked Lasers. This is the first generation Sonar Blu-ray laser built from a pice of milled aluminum and a diode out of a PlayStation 3. It's pulsed, emitting light 10% of the time give or take a little averaging 20mW give or take a little overall. Has a convergent beam that focuses at about 100 to 200cm from aperture. It really came out well on camera.

I’ve always wanted one of those. I have a ton of different WL models but the Sonar is one that has managed to to evade me.

Yeah, I saw your 100th laser post and saw your collection. Pretty impressive. I'm more of a CNI guy myself though. Really like your collection.

There's a guy on YouTube who I'm sure is also on the forum, Neophyte101 is his YouTube avatar, and he has a few Sonars, but I didn't notice a first gen Sonar. I had an opportunity to get a Sonar II Burner that I missed out on unfortunately. It was out of my price range at the time.

I once read that the average power of the original Sonar is closer to 2 mW. Violet lasers have definitely gone a long way.
