Some technical questions for new built

Here is a comparison of the host diameter with 40mm and a 50mm. For the optics i prefer the 40mm host. The 50mm one would probatly have better heat conduction.
Hmm... hard to say wich layout to use

Now i built in almost all the futures i wanted. Fokus changable from the outside included. Only thing missing is a lens shutter... no idea yet :/

That looks awesome!
My only concern about the copper is that it would tarnish quickly.
I prefer corrosion resistant materials but perhaps you have a solution for that or don't mind cleaning it often?

Regarding the aperture shutter...
I used to have a CNI PGL-III (Like the Laserglow Ares & Herc, DragonLasers Hulk) and disassembled the aperture shutter.
There was a flat, black, rectangular piece of metal about 6 x 20mm.
When twisted, the metal piece was pushed in front of the aperture. I don't remember the details but that's the basic idea... I don't have that laser anymore so that's all I can offer.

Here is a pic posted by Smeerworst:
In red, I circled the aperture cap. You should ask him for some more pics and info on the shutter.

thx for the info!

i knew it works with twisting, the firedragon had a slider wich often got opened unwanted. thats why i would prefer a twisting solution.
the twisting system is also used in fotocameras... maybe i find something that works.

For the copper and getting tarnish -> thats exactly what i want ;) love that used copper look :)

Finally getting serious with that laser project

Got all copper parts today (cost me ~350$ for machining the copper parts) and tomorrow i hope i can finish up and get it running :eg:

Some pics of the parts:

I hope to reach the 1,5W over better runtime then before

Finally it´s working again. Output power at the moment between 1 and 1.1w. But the driver only delivers 3A to the diode. The old driver delivered 4A. The diode finally died because of a short circuit at 6A. So i know what it can take ;)
Planning to mod the second module i got with replacing some of the brass elements with copper for better heat conduction in the diode part and get another driver with 3.5A-4A to push the power a little further.

Exquisite build numquamretro!
A top of the line build; I especially like your adjustable focus mechanism. Also, a super job on the copper machining.

:gj: +1 Well done!

Beautiful build ! I can only dream of the day I get to build anything even remotely close to it. Great Job ! Thanks for the pice !
