Solution for warranty problem of Friend BERNI from Lvyi Laser

He explained that anyone unhappy with the power could just open it and turn the potmeter.
When someone tried and pointed out that there were no potmeter, the story changed to the 800mW being a feature to increase duty cycle.

For all I know the driver is a modified flashlight driver with spikes that would be ok for a LED, but kill a LD pretty quickly. That would at least be consistent with the rest of the company impression. :D

Really, you are sure ?
Another Specialist on this forum can also confirm that this PT4115 driver will kill my led again ?
Thanks

From whay I've read and understand...

1) The Laser was working when received....
2) Then it stopped working correctly...
3) Then on the seller's recommendation.. the Laser was
opened but not modified or changed.
4) The seller then states the Laser was opened and modified
by the customer and is no longer on guarantee... Doh....
5) He should send it back and pre-pay $25.00 + Shipping both
ways... Doh...

Yeah.... right away....

No, I am not sure.
That is why I say "as far as I know".
It could be that this particular LED driver is safe enough for LD's.

I just think it would be out of style for livylaser to use a LED driver that happen to fit LD's as well. :D

Here is a PDF on it.

Ok, I am not an electronics wiz, but I am wondering if it would be better to install a different driver?:anyone:

Probably... Most LED drivers don't work very well with LD's. Like has been mentioned. LED's tend to be a lot more forgiving of 'dirty' input than laser diodes are.

Wait. That looks like a generic boost driver. does this laser have any kind of modulation, dimming etc, like in that LED driver PDF?

No, I have the same laser as in the as in the link in my other post. I haven't taken mine apart and it works great!

Ah. It should probably be ok then except for maybe on turn on. Generally the dimming modes, strobe, etc, are where the pwm voltage overshoots happen with the LED drivers.

I don't have an lpm but after Jerry tested his he got around 740mw so I figure mine is close to that! Wish it was 1w like advertised. But the WL Arctics are about the same, so I can't bitch! It works great and I am just going to leave it alone!

Thanks
Jeff

Thanks you Lvyi Laser for Solution warranty problem..

Lvyi have send me another laser + accessory (suprise) and I have send today the old one back with all accessory.

Tracking # : RR623783214IL Post Israel

Before Lvyi find a solution by sending me a new laser, I have taken the old one apart because I thought that I would buy a 445 LD from kiyoukan for $40 and install that, instead of paying Lvyi shipping both ways and $50 to fix it.
