SOLD: Pocket Mini Chrome 445nm @ 900mW - $155

Re: FS: Pocket Mini Chrome 445nm @ 900mW

good deal. The mini chrome is a nice host, and a great show piece.

Thanks DLMB, I appreciate the kind words :)

Re: FS: Pocket Mini Chrome 445nm @ 900mW

The focus-head on this Mini Chrome deserves a more beautiful end.. ;)

Re: FS: Pocket Mini Chrome 445nm @ 900mW

I actually had Flaminpyro build me one of his awesome focus knobs for this guy once, but for some reason this host just doesn't look *right* to me with any other focus solution. There's something about its size, coupled with that black simple lens, that always reminds me of a precision surgical instrument.

Granted, that may not be a look everyone is going for - but of all the dozens of lasers I've gone through, this has been the one that held on to its spot in my treasure chest the longest.

Having said that, if anyone wants to use their own lens, I'm actually cool with knocking the price of this lens off the purchase price, and just keeping it. I actually like this lens style a lot, and it's the only one I have.

Re: Pocket Mini Chrome 445nm @ 900mW - No Longer For Sale

405 is getting harder to find, day by day

Re: Pocket Mini Chrome 445nm @ 900mW - No Longer For Sale

That's true - and I don't really get why that's the case. The diodes are pretty much perfectly equal in cost. Both 405 and 445 are around $45 if you buy them one at a time from someone, and both are about $35 if you buy a bunch at once. Pretty much everything else about building with them is the same (lenses, diode size/modules, and in many cases even the driver)

I think this essentially comes right down to colour preference and visibility. I think people just LIKE 445s better?

Re: Pocket Mini Chrome 445nm @ 900mW - No Longer For Sale

Got my first 405nm last night, a 150mW O-like pen. Even with crappy batteries it quickly hit 120mW, lit a match, and smoked basically everything.

The big let down is visibility. The beam is very hard to see, even harder than 660nm.

445's are easier to see, and reach higher power levels easily. A few members on here have gone over 2W. Pretty much the highest for sale 405nm I've see was ~700mW.

I am in the market for a high powered 405nm though, just to see what the beam would look like, but so far haven't seen anything I like.

Re: Pocket Mini Chrome 445nm @ 900mW - No Longer For Sale

Interesting -
I've run 405s to slightly above 700mW (on of my beautiful Ray J Neal hosts is pushed pretty hard), and the beam is still not nearly as visible as a 445. If you take a 750mW 405nm, in theory it should be somewhere around as visible as ~24mW of 445nm.
Beam: (405nm 750mw) vs. (445nm 23.65mw)

I like running BW512Ls at ~625mA (or 612.5mA which is convenient if you're using a linear driver). I find that current to produce somewhere around 700mW with that diode. I'm still sort of itching to push a 405 to 700mA. I've got a BW512L here, and some neat new hosts en route to Ray for heatsinks, so maybe that will be my next build.

I'd like to find a host that could take 3x 18350s for it though.

i still want to buy a turtle from your avatar....

Re: Pocket Mini Chrome 445nm @ 900mW - No Longer For Sale

From Where Can i buy the same LPM?

Re: Pocket Mini Chrome 445nm @ 900mW - No Longer For Sale

Im making a 12x pocket mini from my Jayrob kit but im cutting the driver back to 385 mA so its not heating up to fast, still should make a nice pocket build with a 405-g-1 :)

Re: FS: Pocket Mini Chrome 445nm @ 900mW - $180

Now that I'm re-situated and the move is done with, I'm going to put this up for sale again. No rush. If you're interested, send me a PM.

Re: FS: Pocket Mini Chrome 445nm @ 900mW - $180

Thats a good price for an assembled chrome :)

Thanks :)

Anyone interested - I can change the lens and give you a traditional aixiz lens with normal knob. I thought the one pictured fit the build better, but I'm happy to change it. I'll take a photo of the alternate lens tonight.
