Got home from shopping to find my basement like this:

Not happy to say the least.
Thankfully the only electronic casualty was the AC adapter for my gaming laptop. Im stuck using my school laptop for a few days until my new AC adapter arrives. The floors and walls are completely ruined, but insurance is paying to have our whole basement redone so there wont be any lasting damage.

We called an emergency plumber and got it fixed right away. Turns out one of the pipes coming from the hot water heater that go into the ceiling came loose.

yeah my lasers are fine up on my desk. Luckily I was wearing rubber boots because when I first got in at least 3 power bar/extension cords were submerged. Amazingly none of them shorted out though.

I was going to make a joke out of that but for your sake I will withhold. Dude that sucks! At first I thought it was due to the deep "unfreeze" but at the end I see the problem

Two water main breaks? That blows! Hope you have some good homeowners insurance that covers this. Thats going to be a lot of work! Get some workers in there that know what they are doing, they can be the difference between saving you thousands and a complete loss of everything!

EDIT: you make a good point on the power strips, Im moving mine to higher ground. FL gets some NASTY rain storms that will flood the streets in minutes! Ive seen it get to cars hoods in low spots, hence why I lift my truck and not lower it

Ill have to add the stylus to my Wacom drawing tablet to the list of electronic casualties. Thankfully the tablet itself is unharmed and I have a spare stylus.

EDIT: Oh and I had 2 vintage Macintosh computers (an iMac G3 and an eMac) that were in my closet that got flooded so those two machines are ruined So much for my collection.

I'd let the PCs fully dry and do a test before calling them dead. Maybe open them up to dry faster and more thoroughly.

And to add more fun to my evening, I just got my school laptop back from getting its hard disk replaced, and I'm trying to install my 3D software for school tomorrow, but I need to install all the updates for Windows F***ing 8 and the bloody Windows Update is broken and just stays stuck at 0%.

I never ever had this much issue when I had a Mac. Why couldn't the water have gone a little higher and fried this stupid thing for me?

Yup, windows updates have been weird on my computer too. Sometimes it just loops; downloads the update, restarts and configures it to about 70% and then says fail and reverts back to the old update
