I've been talking with Sky Lasers about their 400mW 808nm pen style lasers, and I was wondering if anyone is interested in them?
Price wise, if we where to order 20 of the lasers, it would cost $91 per laser (shipped priority w/ delivery confirmation).
If we ordered 30 of the lasers the total would be $80 shipped priority w/ delivery confirmation.

Right now, I am still gathering information, but $80 for 400mW's of 808nm it seems like a pretty decent price.

If anyone has any concerns, comments, or questions, please let me know.

The laser is the LP808IR, although on the site it says the max power is 300mW, Betty from Sky Lasers has informed me that they sell 400mW models.

You are going to have to take into account goggles. Goggles for IR are not cheap, a good pair of goggles will cost you $85 (from Pseudo), that is about the cheapest you are going to get for QUALITY 808nm goggles.

Also, because these are multi-mode you won't be doing any distance burning with these, they will burn at their focal point very well but after that they are just an IR flashlight.

I'm glad to see some interest :), I'll e-mail SKY about the P1064L -300, beam specs on the LP808IR, and I'll also inquire about other single mode IR lasers, and I'll also ask if they have any IR goggles, and how much those would cost if bought in quantities of 20, or 30.
Any other questions you'd like me to add to the list?

i asked about the P1064L -300 too and the IR detection card.i think i might get the ml7 goggles.

Beam divergence<3,Beam diameter at Aperture:3X3mm for the LP808IR :'(.If i were to buy 20 P1064L -300 each would be 200-300

I'm still waiting for pseudo to pop in here :)

I'm curious what he'd offer ;)

There is no way those thongs are 3mRad, they should be much higher than that being multimode diodes. This is where we need pseudo to come in. ;D

Edit: Typo

Hey daedal. I'm pretty much out of stock on my 400mW + goggles + cert + ship deal for ~$300. If there's enough interest to start a preorder, I may place another order but for now I haven't been planning on restocking.

I have tested some S-KY stuff before and I found the level of quality was incredibly sub-par to the point that I wouldn't even expect to see it on a place like DX. If these "400mW" 808nm pens are similar to the other 808nm S-KY products I've tested, I would expect a very very shoddily built 200mW laser. I've heard word that they've cleaned up their act a bit since, but I don't really know what to think - I'm definitely not shelling out any of my own cash on them to find out though. If someone wants to buy a unit and lend it to me, I'll test it out and post my honest opinion and some power tests here on LPF for everyone to see.

As for 3mRad, its possible but incredibly unlikely. To get 3 mRad, you'd have to have a pretty large beam at say like 5mm+ in diameter. I don't even think the aperture cap is large enough to facilitate that. Not to mention their larger size 808nm units seemed to have an even tighter beam and higher divergence than the CNI pens (which have a spec of 15mRad). So I ain't got any proof, but I'd tend to not believe their spec in that regard.

Typical skeptical me, eh?

I'm asking her the specs of teh lasers
