Should I avoid the BenBoost?

Hey everyone,
Ive been planning a 445 build (M140), and I decided to go with a BenBoost. Now, I'm seeing some members say that they kill the diode.
Should I look for another boost driver instead of the BenBoost?
Thank you!
Alessandro

As far as I know the benboost has only killed sensitive diodes like the single mode 405's. 445's are a lot tougher and should be fine, just use a max current of 1.8 A.

Ben boost drivers are fine. Like grainde said the 405nm are more sensitive diodes. Just don't set the driver at the very edge of maximum allowed current for the 405nm. The current ripple could jump over the max and killing the diode.

yeah, ben boost can only handle 1.25A max, he would need 2 x benboosts in parallel to get that 1.8A

I'm using two benboosts (from when moh was selling them if that matters) paralleled to drive an M140 445 @~1.8A which is giving me 1.75W with a G2 lens.

Sorry, should have been clearer. I meant don't use more than 1.8 A with an M140 diode...

 I know I just pointed that one ben boost wouldn't handle it :D Didn't want to let the OP think a single ben boost can do 1.8A :D

Thanks everyone!
Now I just need to wait for cilegray to confirm my address and I'll have a nice 445

I certainly hope so, otherwise I just gave him 14$
He hasn't responded to me for about a week though, so I figure he's on vacation?

Kinda answers what i had in mind.. But since then their sales have been put on hold until further testing. Hope to see some better ones with 2A capacity as the bars have been set higher like never before, with the current advancements in 445 hobby industry :D
