If you are using a case positive diode with a driver that isn't continuous positive you MUST isolate the diode from the rest of your build. I'm not familiar with the Groove 2 driver so I don't know how it is setup to work. But, if you isolate the diode from the rest of your build, you can use any driver that would work in a lab host setting. It's just a PITA to isolate the diode. I would be interested in finding any other driver that is continuous positive like the Blitz Linear from SL as I don't particularly like that driver all that much. It is the only continuous positive driver I know of. Any other would have to be linear too because you can't make a small boost or buck driver continuous positive. It can be done, but you end up having to add a lot more to your driver and it really isn't worth the effort.

Hi, If your going to use the case POS+ 505 in a 510 mod then you can isolate the entire sink with some Delrin . I machined this one for a customer and I believe theres a thread on it somewhere . A few pics it it will help I made this one and it worked out great.

Yes, a big chunk of plastic between the battery and the driver and diode works fine. Unfortunately for most, that option is not as easy as this when you are working with a ready made host or especially a flashlight host. I think the mech mods are easier to do this with than other types of hosts.

Paul,
In post #14 BBB shows an Aspire mech mod , I think RB Astro made some from this mod. I have three mods like that just sitting , as for the 510 connector they come in all different diameters so even a flashlight 510 modification shouldn't be to hard to do . And as for BBB he is a great one on a machine so it won't be to hard for him to fabricate.

Hi J,
Thanks for sharing I couldn't place whom I machined the Derlin adapter for , there were a few customers that I made some 510 heat sinks for . Glad it worked out fine. Maybe BBB can do this for his aspire mod or even a flashlight mod to.

Hi RB,
The one I was thinking about had a Delrin spacer machined between the 510 adapter and the sink.
