SCAMMED BY DAY "of Shadows"

Either 150 posts and 60 days here, or approval by cold to sell.

What would that help? So far I have never heard of a scammer on this forum who was not already a well established member. 150 posts and 60 days will only prevent some of the new great guys who have been lurking and want to sell some heatsinks or similar things from doing so. Lately a lot of new members have been selling really cool stuff, all of them honest people. If they fail to deliver, you simply get your money back through paypal.
The problem is with people who have a good reputation but for some reason have been overburdened with orders or are in some stressful situation where they need money. These people will have been trusted with putting together some parts, testing a laser or similar things which cannot simply be gotten back through paypal, and because you trust them you often wait too long to file a dispute because you think "He wouldn't scam me."
Then you are in trouble because you have no real way of getting your things back.
A newcomer scamming anyone successfully has never happened in my experience with any forums or on ebay since people are more cautious with them.. It is with people who you trust so you let your guard down that it goes wrong.

Now of course that is only true for very few members.. because the large majority of trusted sellers here would go through hell to satisfy a customer..
Usually you have a bit of a mixed feeling right from the start with the people who are trusted but end up scamming.. Jake for example.

I PM'D him that he's got 48 HRs. before I start one.

Hi Rob,
Don't wait, you only have 60 days after the transaction to dispute.
It's a bunch of bull that this feloow got ripped off from the mfg., if that was the case, he could have quickly taken care of it by filing his own paypal dispute.
What it is is that a 14 year old kid all of a sudden got a bunch of money sent to him and he probably spent it on video games.
What might work even better is to contact his parents and start complaining, especially if others besides you got ripped off and are just too embarrassed to come out publicly.
Since he's under 18, his parents are ultimately responsible for fixing this.

If you saved the box, or can find out what his shipping address is, that's all you need, from there search google, the net and phone books/ public records, that will get you his parents name. The send them a registered letter that they need to sign for personally and that he cannot intercept describing the situation. This is probably more than just a case of one person being ripped off here and if everyone affected makes an effort to contact the parents I think you'll get it taken care of.

Not even that bootleg2go,
"You have 45 days from the date of the transaction to open a dispute in the Resolution Center."
But I agree with you on the rest..
If he as TJ said "was selling Boblasers and not telling people" it is his fault for using a supplier which we already knew is far from reliable and he should be the one dealing with the problems since the others think he is using a reputable dealer.
He could obviously ask for more money and say that he got screwed over and ask for people to help out by paying a bit extra, but he cannot simply send broken stuff to others and then ignore them.

They did not accept payment via paypal, which is why he couldn't dispute the transaction.

Most suppliers in China only accept Western Union or bank transfer, the buyers are the one paying fees for this kinds of transactions. They probably don't want you to do a paypal charge back either.

Mario Master, IF you happen to talk to him again, PLEASE tell him to PM me before I start a MAIL FRAUD INFRACTION on him OK ? Thanks, rob

That's the problem with some young "wanna get rich" sellers with no real experience
in the buy/sell world...
As the old adage goes.... "don't bite off more than you can chew"...

It seems when things go wrong.... some of the younger sellers stick their heads
in the sand in hopes that everything will go away...:undecided:

"Aint gonna happen"....:eg:

Jerry
