Thanks for the video :)

The alignment looks good in the video, hope it comes out before the decade is over.

I created a snapshot of the 9 lasers currently for sale on Sanwu Lasers.
I did this, in part as a quick reference, but also because I'm confused as to why some diodes are available for some lasers but not for others.

Hopefully if there are any errors or omissions on any of the products listed above, they are more easily spotted by being presented side-by-side here.

The Striker SS 7W blue isn't sure whether it's 455nm, 450nm, or 445nm.

I'm curious why the available diode options between the Challenger and Challenger II are so drastically different from each other. 405@800mW, 445@~, 465@~, 470@4W, 505@40mW, 520@1W, 635@~.

The Silver and Striker Saber doesn't have any of the Cyan options.

Maybe someone can identify which diodes each of these are, by manufacturer and model, and their fill in their attributes (Singlemode / Multimode)?

I would also recommend displaying Battery Type more prominently on each product page, and describing if it takes 1 or 2 cells, or is interchangeable. It's not always very obvious.

Are they actually binning the 488/492 diodes?

There was a claim to that effect, but I wonder if they aren't just looking at the color and binning them that way, as opposed to measuring them with an optical spectrometer.

Sure it's not a matter of color shift due to driving it at higher voltage and current? Same diode just produces 488 @ 60mW and 492 @ 100mW? Or would they have a natural tendency lean towards one color or the other?

These Sharp diodes have a tendency to have a 6nm shift among diodes of the same part number. At or around 490nm this can mean a blue at 488nm or a cyan at 492nm. It is the individual diode that makes the difference.

Thanks for that insight. Doesn't Sharp do any binning of their own, though, like most LED mfgs?

When you say a "blue at 488 or cyan at 492", I recall somebody else remark that 488 is closest to cyan, while 492 starts to pick up a tinge of green. Is that a fair assessment?

The datasheet for these states a range between 480nm and 495nm. An earlier batch was centered around 494nm (+/- 1nm) while the batch that is now available (DTR) is more 489nm (+/- 3nm). Sharp is definetly binning some diodes from every run for quality control but they don't offer single selected diodes. With enough $$ one could buy a wafer run with a specific wl though.

The <488nm diodes are light blue while the >492nm are a green/blue, which by definition is cyan. If you don't believe me, do a Google search of cyan.
These symbols <> are meant to mean equal to or lesser or great than.

Hey Podo-I just ordered a 150 mW Challenger 2 with beam expander-multimode version. I see it's 525 nm- I assume that will look very close to the 520 nm. I'm looking forward to getting it! Thanks!
Change? Can I upgrade that to a 1 Watt 520nm instead? Thanks! I sent an email to Sanwu,
NOTE: they are quick- Francis at Sanwu had me buy the equivalent in 3 Element lenses to make the difference

Request for lightsaber wand accessory for Pocket model.

Request for some engraving options for Pocket model.

Request for clarification on "Focusing Lens" options for Pocket model.
... Does this introduce a rotating segment at the end of the laser? Or is the laser the same length and appearance with the G7 as is with the Standard lens?
Is the G7 lens a better optics choice for someone with zero intention of adjusting the focal length? Astronomy laser only.

1. The weight and size is not very well balanced if you think about the pocket, it is a very light and tiny laser to put the lightsaber on.

2. Some people may not know, we provide custom engraving on the striker, silver, guardian and pocket laser, you can have something like: "100mw 492nm Sanwulaser" or your own custom words/name on the laser.

3. If you use it as astronomy laser, standard lens is good to go.

Hey Podo,
Last week I received my 1 watt 520 nm Challenger 2. Beautiful! Unfortunately mode switching worked exactly once- I was able to get it into a "burning" mode. After 30 seconds of use-it flickered-then cycled through modes all by itself- going back and staying in the last mode. I've tried over the last several days-following BobMc and also Francis at Sanwu's suggestions-no luck! I've tried waiting 3 seconds- then various sequences of half presses. I've tried going all the way until it almost switches off. All it does is go dark when I press the button-and come back on always in the same mode.

Since this is only 1 week old-can you send me a replacement Multimode Endcap? I REALLY don't want to return the laser. I am budgeting for a blue next month.

The end cap isn’t what’s multimode, it’s just a switch. The driver is multimode. Replacing the end cap would likely do nothing.

Looking at the Sanwu Guardian laser. The 635nm 200mw Bright Red (single mode diode) seems to be the same price as the The 635nm 800mw Bright Red model. Since the 800mw is 4 times the power why is it the same price or I should say why is the 200mw the same price as the 800mw. I'll assume it has to do with the single mode diode (but I thought multimode diodes were more $) so confused newbie

Thanks for help with this question.
