Look what I got in the mail today, nice 575 nm yellow output laser pointer :)

Nice work Rich.
Chris, keep an eye on this. I am looking to see if failure is immanent on all of these as Steve, LSRFAQ, has predicted. Mine is still good and doesn't show signs of failure yet.

What was his reasoning why it might fail and any estimate of TBF? Even if it does, I have two more and an identical sized 561 nm module to replace it with, the host color is closer to 561 nm and can be used with that module as well. The work done on this host is very nice, one of the better ones I own now.

He said the crystal used is failing because it pulls moisture into it. And, he said they would all fail.

So, all we need to do is find a way to seal the module against moisture. Here in Qatar, we have high humidity in the summer, so if that is true, I need to keep this unit in a zip lock bag with some silicone moisture absorption pellets and I should be fine. Just bringing it out of the bag when I use it. When using it each time, the crystal should heat up and perhaps drive out small accumulations of moisture, then when put back in that bag, is kept dry.

If I find a way to seal it better, I mean, the DPSS module itself, none of that will be necessary.

I would start another thread of possible issue's with these diode's and how to maby avoid them.
Not really the proper place I think on Rich's sale thread as he just built the host and put the diode/module in..;)

I agree, at the same time, it does kick it back up to the top of the page. I am not at all worried about problems with it, I will just take care of it as above.
