RF excited CO2 lasers

Meduza -- I seem to recall from long ago a short "rifle" in starwars. It was white and used by the bad guys. The output end was a slot not a hole.
Maybe I have the wrong movie :-?
Oh Well -- this may be my creation that works :D

Mike

my screw gun batteries are poppin fire on the plywood Im gona order a new charger so I can charge both batteries at the same time :D

NightStick --

Now that mine is compressed into a small space with good grounding, I'm reading 9.8 to 10.3 Amps draw. Now that's about right for power input - I seem to have limited the RF cloud affecting the meter.

I carried it out today to impress my friends :o

Mike

Were they impressed? 8-) Thats gotta be one of the coolest laser builds I have ever seen Mike. :D When I get paid, I'm gonna grab some of those drill battery's. 8-)

Mike,Im goin to a laserfest ;D Oh I mean a Hamfest with lasers in it. Im gona get to Meet Chris, and Im looking forward to this little trip its a little over 6 hours from here in Waterloo IL. to Waukeshaw hamfest :D :D Im gonna get to get away yea!!!

I did too like yours! :D I just like the portability more than the bigger box look.
Thats why I'm gonna try to use a clear tube for mine.

Disma, I thought I might get your attention where you been I know hollidays and toy keep us all busy . hope everyone had a great Christmas/ Hollidays  :) :D oh the clear tube is a great idea Im gona try to build another one if I can get everything together without breaking the bank :)

I already broke the bank, :( But this robot I'm building is gonna cost me 500 easy. It will be sweet when I get it going though, I'm still trying to decide what kind of laser i wanna put on it. I have some 20w diode bars also. Talk about home defense, this thing is gonna be awesome... :D

I want pics my son would love to build a robot maybe your pics will give us some ideals I would also like to get into rc cars or hellicopters to many ideals not enough time or money :) :D

Well, I'll be using many safeguards, the power to the laser will only be turned on by a 6 digit pin on a keypad not interfaced with the rpv's computer. (this circuit is built and works great!) Also, the lasers power is in parallel with a loud warning alarm. There will be no one in the room when it is operational, all control will be through wlan with wpa2 enabled and remotely piloted with video returned through the wlan. :D If control is lost, or no packets are received within 1.5 seconds, the computer in the rpv will disconnect power from all motors and the laser, thus requiring the 6 digit pin code to be re entered to activate the laser again. 8-)

Be careful with that robot toy --- The CO2 laser will start almost anything on fire in a second. Like a firearm, always know the target.

Mike

yes, I know. I treat it like I treat my shotgun. This is not a small toy, its more like a medium weight battle bot. :)

I am looking forward to seeing this maybe some video? Disma Ive been looking up 3 inch square plastic tubing I might use that On my portable CO2 dont know for sure, but Im going with two 18 volt rigid screw gun batteris, they work great for my 7 watter and recharge time is 20 min. per battery :)
