Just a quick review of the 600mW greenie i obtained from Rob (Phoenix7)

Well what a laser! .

Equipment used :-

Usb Kenometer built by myself. (Parts supplied by Kenom obv)

Tornado K-Type Digital thermometer

Philips Laptop with Luminosity

Sanyo 18650 2400mAh

Photos

Size comparison with a Jarob 18650 445nm build

The laser under test

IR filter retrofitted

Temp reading while under test...never got over 26c !

Dot at 19ft (please forgive my horrible photography) Dot was about 15mm

And finally the data graphs

Without IR fiter :-

With IR filter :-

And thats about it.

So all in all this is a beast of a laser

Pros :-

► relatevly stable
very effective heatsink
insane power
► Good IR filtered performance

Cons
► Poor divergance
► EATS batteries (to be expected!)
► Very bright blue LED

So all in all a very good laser, (thanks Rob) , beamshots & comparisons coming when it gets darker.

Thanks for reading.

The divergence may be a consequence of higher-order multimode operation. It looks like the beam is vaguely square.

Great laser and review though - good to see Luminosity is working well for you. :)

Hm... try expanding the beam with a lens onto a wall, then taking a picture at a really fast shutterspeed - try 1/2000.

From what you've taken, it looks like TEM12 is fairly prevalent...

I was thinking more like TEM00 just with dirty lens a bit. It does appear round overall.

Hey ped,

Regarding these images:

20i6s11.jpg

That's definitely some high-order mode.

If it would be possible, could you get us a 60 second run video?

Tape a piece of flat, white paper to a wall, and shine the laser through an expanding lens (a clean glass magnifying glass works fine). The spot should be around 1cm wide on the paper.

Point the camera through the goggles, and record a 60 second video of the laser as soon as you turn the laser on.

As requested, though i kept the video running for 2 mins because it kept mode hopping.

I name this laser "Skippy" :)
