I'm ordering a few replacements greenies (and new ones) from DX, and (unless I'm really lucky), expect I will have to return at least one item or so. How are they on that, in your experience? From past experience, once I initiate an RMA, they never answered, so I was left hanging, as to what to do. Finally presented all the evidence to my credit card company, and they sided with me. How does one successfully deal with DX as far as sending back defective product for refund. I wouldn't want to send back for exchange (I have my own reasons). I'd return for full refund, and then possibly order again. Thanks.
 





From what I've heard, they are amazing at customer service, and have been with me with backorders. It might be a problem that they just recently fixed.
 
I've heard a lot of great stories where everything turned out great for the buyer, but I have heard some bad stories where DX wouldn't respond to emails.
 
Emails usually don't work too well with DX, they probably get too many; but if you login to your account with them and fill out the form, you should get a reply within 24hrs, I always found them to be very prompt at answering any questions that I may have.

Yes it's true they don't test their lasers and they post about that all the time, so while it might not be good, they certainly don't lie about it.  The prices are very cheap for the most part with free shipping, and a lot of items can be shipped back to them at an address right in the USA if that is where you are located at, I personally wouldn't buy any high ticket items from them, but that is just my personal choice.

I have purchased numerous items from them in the past year or two, you can get some real good bargains from them, but just like any place else; especially buying from China, you need to know what you are buying and what a bargain is.

I know people that buy from them in bulk all the time and then resell for x2 -3x what they paid for the stuff, China has some of the cheapest labor in the world.  Did you ever notice how almost every piece of electronics gear sold in the USA for example is made in China? Sure buyer beware, but at least they take PayPal and don't make you use Wire Transfers and charge bloated shipping cost.

Well I have had problems returning a laser, because I never had proof of shippment EG a receipt which you need to prove that you sent them it.

I'm not surprised, that, (to many), in China, "the truth" is only what you can prove, and "a lie" isn’t being dishonest, if you can't prove it's a lie. Sort of like that Seinfeld episode with Elaine and that jacket she stole, where she was like..."But they don't know I stole it, so its not wrong". I once had a co-worker (who had emigrated from mainland a couple months back), and she wanted stock advice. I finally gave her a couple of tips, and one of the stocks she bought went down a couple weeks after she bought it....she came to me and said..."Wah, you cheated me, you are not my friend!" I felt bad (and tried to, culturally, put myself into her shoes), and told her maybe to wait a bit. Well, the stock went down some more, and she really tore into me then. 4 months later, the stock (AAPL) was up quite a bit from where she bought it. I see her one day and she's like..."You ah helped me, you are my friend!".

There is truly an innocence, yet at the same time, a lack of depth. It is very peculiar.
 
DX said that they would get a replacement for me when the recieved the laser ;D its been 2 weeks ( atleast ) since it was sent by airmail ! need to sort this out.

Make sure you have the packaging you received the item in and that you file the RMA through their customer care link on the bottom of their website. I haven't had to return anything, but in the cases where something was defective, missing, or the wrong item they were pretty quick in responding and did a good job. In the case of the defective item (a battery charger), they just shipped out a new one, and didn't want it back.

You also need to be very quick about the RMA... if you're requesting an RMA for a laser after like a week or more after receiving it, it's hard to claim it was DOA. I'd also say that only the expensive lasers have a real "warranty" on them, so unless it was DOA, you're out of luck.
 
On the DX website there is a link to intiate a ticket. DX usually amswers the ticket in 1 - 2 days.

I had to send a flashlight that had a bad tailcap to a Florida address. Once the defective items is received in Florida I had a new light shipped to me from Hong Kong.

DX will pay for return shipping. Just read the instructions they send to you.


I heard that lasers have to be sent back to Hong Kong for refund.
 
I sent a defective 10mw green laser to the florida address about 3 weeks after i got it (it broke) and i got store credit for it instead of a replacement, that may be faster then trying to get a replacement.
 
I had to send my 200mW red back to DX because it was grossly underpowered.

I had proof of postage (which I had to photoshop in order for them to reimburse me for the postage) and I got a brand new one which does what its meant to do. And I always got a reply within 3 hours of sending my emails. Maybe I was just lucky...
 
thanks everyone for posting your RMA experiences. I've been ordering a lot of their 30mW true greenies and got a bad one that won't turn on after about 10 lasers. I guess it was bound to happen, but I just did a RMA support ticket and hopefully can get a replacement.
 
I am sending my 200mW green 18650 laser back due to mod hopping and spliting the dot into almost 2 dots, yet nothing about needing an RMA number or ticket.
