This is the "other" section. The whole point is to discuss "off-topic" things. Most threads in the main part of the forum are very on-topic.

Soooooo, if that person would only positive rep inactive accounts so that they then could only attack with negative reps that is pure abuse of the system.
Simple logic would dictate that member does not need any reps and the Mods/Admins should strip that member of their rep right down to zero. Or at the least disable their ability to hand out negative reps.

Well you just joined up a few days ago. I'm sorry you are having such a bad time. You might try using only the sections of the forum you deem appropriate for you to see.

Why is the rep system even the way it used to be?
The rep system I like the best is the one that takes away half a point of rep for you when you give 1 point away. It gives it Value.

@trendkilla254 Clicking on "new posts" includes all new threads in all sections of the forum. Hard to ignore but not impossible. My comment was about seeing a lot of it for a laser forum.

I agree as well I like the old limit better too.

A lot of you guys are missing the key problem which is rep abuse mainly negative.
They need to find a way to set a limit to how many times you can neg rep a given person per X amount of time.

The other issue like Alaskan said was repping old inactive accounts

They need to make it so you cant rep a post that's years old.
but IIRC in the old rep thread that caused the change I don't think the rep setting had an option for that.

That was the issue all along anyway.

@lazerman121 I'm no pro but I do not believe vbulletin can support such options. Whatever this rep system is you people should just live without it. Reminds me of youtube members begging for likes and subscribers all the damn time. Let it go. It's meaningless.

I find your comment to be off topic for this thread, please make every reasonable attempt to refrain from spamming the thread with irrelevant comments that are a distraction from the focus of the discussion, because as you can see your off topic comment has necessitated the insertion my off topic response comment resulting in the aforementioned off topic discussion.
Furthermore I do hope you will garner the restraint necessary to refrain from generation an unnecessary retort to my off top comment about your off topic comment that would only further besmirch this thread with a distasteful and distracting 50% increase in off topic discussion at minimum.

That was the issue all along anyway.

The new rules were kind of a compromise. Ideally those rules would be the best way to go, but there is no way within the options available in the VB control panel to automatically prevent rep of old accounts or posts, or to limit how many times you can rep a certain person in x period of time. The only way to do those things would be to have the mods manually remove the offending reps if they are reported to the staff.

Wouldn't be surprised. He hasn't added anything, and the account was made the day after VG was banned. He's just trying to get us riled up. As the age old saying goes, "don't feed the trolls".
