Re: Have you ever been contacted via PM and asked not to rep another member?

I've never been asked not to rep a member.
Alaskan, have these requests all been recent?

One recent, others not. Considering I have been a member for three years now, that isn't all that much.

I've never been asked not to rep a member before. It is probably best we don't discuss this here to be honest. I think we should move this over to the vet section.

That is right. You don't want to open that can of worms now. :)

I don't want to get into specifics with anyone, you have that right. No fights :p

Never received such a request... Nor would I accommodate
such a request.
My choice as to who gets a +Rep or -Rep from me is solely
my choice and no-one will influence that....

Good news, I probably just rep so much that is the reason, maybe someone who isn't so active repping others isn't worth asking.

Re: Have you ever been contacted via PM and asked not to rep another member?

It could also be to do with your rep power. You have one of the highest. One rep from you, and you add 45 to their rep power immediately.
I wouldn't worry, just rep who you want.

Yep, agree 100% with that.

Alaskan, that's probably exactly the reason, you can't please everybody all the time. :D

Re: Have you ever been contacted via PM and asked not to rep another member?

I want to hide my reps, but like the high number so I can give more out. Although I see the point of being more selective and only repping posts which have cool stuff in them, or offer help to others, I see that point well. At first I really didn't like the rep system, I guess it really goes back to when I was dumped on by several members all at once which drove me so deep into the red it too many weeks to recover back to zero. There are problems with the inflated numbers now, a newbie can get a relatively high rep, compared to what it took two years ago, that they might appear to be trusted to the point you can buy and sell from them when it's all fluff. In the past it could take a year to get 100 rep points.

I now see that it also happened to you...;)
Those were the catalysts that turned the rep system
into a joke... IMO
And now we see inflation....
