Reflexion inside plexyglass

Howdy All
this is a curved lens with AR coating on both surfaces but the sides are not polished so te beam looks fuzzy, there are two pictures to show how two different cameras see the same 405nm beem.

It's even more awesome in real life.

Gee you have a picture to look at but I will describe it for you again, I don't think I can manage 1000 words though so you might want to take another look...
It is a piece of bosilicate glass it is curved, it is polished on the front and the back, it has an AR coating on the front and on the back, the sides are rough, it is a lens, what else can I say.

I read that, I was just wondering what the lens was for, or what you got it from. It's an interesting shape for a lens...

I have a few just like it. They came out of some sort of laser scanning unit. I bought the whole unit from Surplus Shed for $12. Lots of unusual lenses in it. Hexagon mirrored scanner motor also.
