Re: RED & 808nm 1-5 WATT LASER DIODES & MORE CHEAP!!~
A little summary (partial) of the diodes i got from Heruur
77 diodes total, 9 mm closed can (7 of them had window broken, so i converted them in "windowless closed can"
I used a stupid nightvision mini-cam for check if they emit (direct vision, no pics), for 1 second or few more, cause for check them for stability and emission power, i need first to build some type of lab-style heatsink holder, so this is just a "work/no work" trial, for now
2 different types, 28 x 3 pins, some with and some without photodiode, and 49 x 2 pins
Unluckily, not a single one on red, all IR, damn (my usual luck hit again
)
from the 3 pins ones, 6 works, and the emission is over 808nm (nothing visible) ..... 1 of the working ones is brighter than the others
From the 2 pins ones, 17 are working, 4 are working, but have a threshold over 200 mA, 6 acts as IR leds, and the remaining 22 just show a faint dimmed spot aiming directly the camera, or nothing at all, also at 200 / 250 mA
in the working ones, some are emitting a large beam, some a thin well shaped beam with an oval in the center, and some (5) a scattered/misshaped beam with dark lines in between (chip damaged, probably), so, at the end, actually 6 over 808nm (probably 960, but don't know for sure), and 16 of 808nm are working.
Still have to check power and stability, but til now, also if all the working ones are just half watt (anyway, i have the suspect that the 4 with so high threshold, can be 1 W ones ..... or, at least hope
), it's not a too bad group, i guess.
Just a bit sad to have not found a single red one, but, hey, it's the life
BTW, there is one, and only one, of the 808nm working ones, that act really strange, and i mean
REALLY strange ..... when i power it, and the module is extremely current stabilized, it looks like a flash, emitting, like, 10 to 15 times the light than in normal run, and shaped in a very large oval, but still coherent ..... then, if i keep it connected, in 3 or 4 seconds, rising a bit the temperature of the chip, it decrease til a normal laser intensity and shape, as the others that i suspect are half watt ..... for the peak time, the current do
NOT increase, it's stable at 175mA, so it's not overcurrent ..... trying to imagine what it can be, sure don't look as a mode change, and til now, i had never seen anything similar in all the diodes i used til now.
