OK just an update. Ive used the WEP for around a month now and it works perfectly. The soldering iron is powerful and only takes a few seconds to reach its temperature. It also stays around the set temp when soldering to big lumps of copper, which have been soldered(!) to copper sinkpads. The reflow station works well and Ive used it a few times to attach Cree emitters to sink pads.
The only complaint is that the temperature setting for the hot air is on the low side and is probably around 80 - 90 °C out. I tested it with my DMM, which has a temp probe attached. Unfortunately its a cheapie LPM and I have no idea how accurate the temp reading on that is either!
Anyway, I just set the temp a little lower, around 50°C lower, and it works like a charm. For the price its a fantastic bit of kit.
