Are you north of the Arctic Circle ? If so I'm sure that would have both it's pros and cons, the 6 months of night would make for a lot of outdoor star pointing with lasers though
I live in Helsinki, quite north but not enough to have only night or only day periods But yea in the wintern most of the time is dark. The sun stays up from about 9-10am to 4pm but theres always too much clouds to see any stars
