I have heard of this but never played around with it. I am looking forward to the videos.

I've had a 12x12" lens for years -- Came with a warning "not a toy"!!
Serious heat and you can't stand to watch the beam at focus. Welding shields sure help.

Living in Milwaukee, I'm lucky enough to have one of American Science and Surplus's/JERRYCO's retail outlets in my town.

I had a 12"x12" Fresnel lens that was a take-out from an overhead projector.

I remember drilling through old golf balls with sunlight with that thing.

Re: solar melter/ furnace coming soon!

The bigest cheap magnifier I found is a Carson bigeye 5" plastic decent lense.
I use is to solder under.
Burns alot better in Fla than here in Mo.
Sun power density magnified =50W^2cm , or .2W^2cm regular.
Med. supplys sells 8x10 freznel for $5
I'd like to make a big CPU aimed helistat field!

OOps
sunlight is .05W^2cm. Think I read that in a laser book or popular science mag.

That Bigeye magnifier is $10 at opticsplanet.com CHEAP!

Google "visual aids" to find a cheap freznel maybee.
