Just read this post at P/L from mr CDBeam-- worthy of quoting IMHO,:beer:
Those who cannot wrap their brains around these laser forums may get part of the needed explanation about the (why & how of) forums and the search for info.
He is a rather inactive member here at LPF with just two posts made when he joined back in July ..2007!!
If you are having a problem with the search for knowledge read these wise words- if you do not get a little misty towards the end then you may have a heart of stone. :tsk:If you don't find what you search for then this needs to be read.
+3 fpr CDBeam..:beer::beer::beer:

.....There is SOoooo much to learn.....But....the good news....You have all the time in the world !!! And a huge deep well of helpful, passionate and very committed members here to guide your efforts. P?L is a group...literally from around the world….some members with very deep pockets….some on a budget….ALL share the common bond of what could be labeled as “ Coherent Umwelt “
It is a difficult to explain….but we ALL share the amazement of a kid on Christmas morning…..when dealing with most anything to do with coherent light and its display/projection…..of which there are many, many aspects….
SOoooo many aspects…..it is amazing !!! Optics, Physics, Thermal management, Machining, Design and Electronics….not to mention programming and artistic show development….IT is just amazing what our members excel in !!!!!! Different members have different talents/gifts….which they share in a most unselfish way…..so much exchange and sharing…..it is synergistic….and restores one’s faith that people are systemically good…Yea…Hard to believe !!
While P?L is not exactly “topic by topic” organized….there is a huge amount of information here…..and the journey to travel thru the threads….thru the hundreds of posts, thru our highs and lows, our discoveries, our frustrations…..PL is a GREAT read….a learning read….a read that you CANNOT put down….well I cannot !!
We do this…basically… not for profit….but passion….and that is what makes this place real and lasting. Sorry if ALL this sound a bit dramatic…. But the recent temporary loss of P?L due a flawed server has brought these thoughts to my mind… in prominent relief.
Feel free to PM me with specific questions regarding alignment….I know some…and learn more all the time….yet….there are other members who have forgotten more than I know…really !! Read the threads….enjoy the trip !!! Learn….ask questions, be patient…and give back and share when you can.

Note: One can think of alignment as successive additions of parallel or combined beams...The analogy in music could be that of a "Bell chord" ... A musical arranging device in which a chord is sung as a succession of notes by each voice in turn. Alignment of beams starts with one beam.....and goes in procession from there.....with addition of beam after beam. Alignment is a slow and tedious process....but when all the discrete beams are brought together...into the tightest possible geometry...it is a beautiful thing
