I received the Green Skyray today! Three days from sending the money to having a new toy in my hot little hands, what more could you ask for.

And the beam is brighter than the 532nm RayFoss 250 mW I used to have! :)
 





I'm not surprised. Most chinese lasers aren't anywhere near spec, nor IR filtered. That one actually isn't either(up to spec that is. I did add an IR filter to the module), since the module was advertised as '200mW', but 'stable' 150mW isn't bad.. and that one is actually pretty damn stable. It wanders between 150mW and 157mW for about 60 seconds before the power slowly starts dropping off.

I'll probably be stocking the modules when I get the money together to order 10.. They aren't particularly cheap, but decent greens that perform well never are.

Yeah, it was like my first or second laser, wasn't bad for the money though.

And, I've got the thermal glue on order. Thanks for the link! :)
 
Little update, I got all 70 of the focus rings threaded today so i'm to the point of being able to just use my jig I made without having to chuck and unchuck them from the lathe repeatedly. So all that's left is facing and shaping the fronts of the blanks, and turning them down to the final diameter.

So I should be able to start shipping hosts again on monday.
 
I got bored tonight of doing the same thing over and over making focus rings, so I knurled about half a dozen and finished them :p The normal ones will probably be finished by tomorrow night.

Just letting everyone know. I have one of Qume's early versions of these... Very nice, and solid.

And I like saying "knurled knobs."

Heh. I actually called this focus ring 'The Aryntha Special' when I showed it to him earlier. heh.

I still have another one of those long ass copper heatsink tank prototypes left. The fin spacing isn't quite even on it though.

Nice. I wasn't sure that I would like the focus knob knurled on the sipik, but now that I see the picture, im sold! :)
 
Hehe. That one doesn't really belong on a sipik, the focus rings for those are notched and that one is flat back, but I guess I could notch them. I only did those because it's been a long time since I knurled anything. :p

I was making a small batch of flat back focus rings with the batch for the sipiks after having gotten some requests for just focus rings from some people.
 
Yep, would seem unnecessary to get more that 1 when i only have 1 laser

i dont suppose you have a focus knob for 1 to

Do you mean the knurled focus rings that come with aixiz modules? If so, I can throw one in.

If you mean custom focus rings, i'm actually working on normal flat back focus rings to sell as well. They are identical to the ones I make for the sipiks except these won't have the backs notched like the ones for the sipiks do. I should have them done and ready to ship come tuesday when the post office opens again. I forgot monday was a holiday. heh.
