Question's concerning Jetlasers Yamataka series.

Today I received my ple pro 400mw 532nm. and I'm so disappointed with the divergence of the ray. that I do not want to do a review. this is not the exact thing I wanted. I wanted a powerful thin beam. not a powerful flashlight. I not can burn match on 2 meters. due to poor beam quality and large discrepancy.

my 650 nm 250 mw o-like burns well. and has a very small point.

You should be able to change the divergence with the ring on top push/pull. On mine I can. Changes from a dot to a wide beam. (Do wish it would go to a wider beam for the Dazzler effect.) But it does start from a beam.

the ring is twisted to the maximum position.

Do you have any photos of the beam/dot at both extremes?
I'm sure if there is an actual problem, Gray, and J/L customer service will help, and make it right!

Edit: You could also try and contact hakzaw1 who may be able to help with your J/L concerns and problems.

of course. both positions. in the left point. but in the right a wide beam.

I'm sorry I'm confused. I thought you said it wouldn't go to a beam?

It should go from a wide beam to a dot as you move the ring.

The divergence on mine is typical of a 520 diode. Pretty decent.

I'll have to do a review to see this. As soon as I take my camera I will make a video and create a new topic.

Sorry not at the moment. I'm having a issue with mine also . Need to email JL about. When I have a wide beam I have a black/dark center., don't know if that's normal?

Infinity focus which will have the least beam divergence should be somewhere in the middle between the two extremes, if it is turning far enough. Mine was a bit difficult to turn all the way to one direction, yours might be doing the same thing when new, maybe twist it back and forth a few times to get it to move the full range smoothly.

Didn't know you had a Yamataka Alaskan, what are your thoughts on yours and which one did you get?

Alaskan, agreed, that's what I was going to suggest next, I've found that in a few of my new lasers, the focus adjuster felt as if it were at the end of its travel, when it actually rotated farther with some gentle persuasion, and repeated use.

I do not have a black spot on a wide beam.

the smallest point in the extreme left position. I'm not sure that this is infinity. but I can not focus closer to the lens.
