Hi guys, this is a quick possibly silly question, but I was wondering since I am flying to california to see my cousin, is it fine to bring my laser? Would I have to put it in my suitcase? It'd only a 2 hour flight from phoenix to cali, and I was wondering. =) thanks in advance

If you must...

Check the laser but keep the tailcap on you. Don't leave any batteries in the laser and remove any laser warning label or cover it with one of a "legal" power level.

I would not bring a laser on a plane if I had the choice, if you have to bring it I would DEFIANTLY check it. Carrying on a laser pointer will probably get you beat down faster than anything.

Just a general bad idea, planes and lasers do not mix well thanks to idiots and the media.

Put it in your checked baggage WITHOUT batteries in it. Place the batteries on the other end of the bag from the laser. No. It is not illegal to carry in your checked baggage. It is just that Homeland Security is a little sensitive to electronic with batteries connected. Anything that keeps them from opening the bag is a good thing.

Peace,
dave
