Alright so what I want to do is take a green laser pointer which is around 10 dollars on DealExtreme.com I just want to salvage the Case and remove the board and diode. Is it possible for me to just mount a blu-ray diode and blu-ray drive on to the housing and put it back together to create my blu-ray pen?

Some guy who had a tut on it said that " oh you cant just swap the board and diode and have it work. Green lasers are very complexed and have crystals making it green its not just the diode..."

However I've seen the KipKay tuts and i dont see any complexed parts for his lasers. i just see him use either a diode and a board or an Aixiz and diode.

Read the tutorial in my signature. It will help you loads.

P.S. Stay away from kipkay's laser advice, it's pure garbage.

alright. So basically what i wish to do is possible though? and I just wanted a yes or no answer, because i have watched a tut. on youtube about switching green laser modules. but not about what i wish to do.

First thing-- we don't talk about KipKay around here much-- at least not in a 'good' way. We mainly give him cred only to being someone who got others interested in lasers and then they found LPF. Second- why would you want to do a 'swap'??? for the practice?? Ebay stores like etimeshop sells overspec BR pens for about 10$-- and they can be found at o-like-rayfoss-laserlands-DX and many more. LPF member Yobersal has a great offer on some as we speak. If its a build you want to DIY--why not obtain a PHR module(here at LPF) and an easy build host(here as well) and go that route?? That way you will have some good heatsinking, too. Go to the search and do a bunch of reading up.. think of it like home work from school-- teacher is not going to read to you.otherwise--WELCOME

Many of us here have purchased cheap greens just for a red or Blu build host. Sometimes, we sneek a high powered O-like green module into one too.
