Look at this advertisement regarding the double slit experiment and their pointer offering. I don't think this is anything more than a toy, you really can't do anything with it in regards to that experiment, can we?

This really interesting. Curious, might be fun to have one just to goof around with.

I only saw a cartoon of a product. I didn't really see any
actual product or actual beam spot of that experiment on
any actual surface.
It looks like a Dollar Store pointer with it's LR44 button cells
and probably a plastic "slit" front end.
I'd invest $2-$3 in that or build one myself.

The slits will cause an interference pattern, but they are huge slits compared to the size of the ones used in the real experiment. Doesn't matter I suppose, just an interesting toy which shows an interference pattern.

Edit: found a link on how to do the double slit experiment at home http://www.teralab.co.uk/Experiments/Youngs_Slits/Youngs_Slits_Menu.htm

Interesting.....
I wonder how they got all that into the Keychain pointer...

That toy interferometer is pretty useless except to show that interference patterns exist. If it sells for more than a couple dollars, it is not worth it. As the rulings become more dense in a diffraction grating the angle that different wavelengths have with respect to each other increases and makes for a more sensitive setup, with better experiments that can be accomplished. Thanks for sharing this, Alaskan.
