Quake 3 on my phone: Nokia n82






That is awesome! Seems to be very playable. No strafes though, I assume? :D

I'm buying Palm Pre however, as I'm developing for webOS, but otherwise would have bought N900 :) Looking forward to write something for Nokia smartphones when they figure things out and get their platform streamlined.

EDIT: damn! just finished watching the video -- TV out feature is cool! It's amazing what phones can do these days!

strafes do work, you can see me strafe in the video, but I usually do it in such a smooth motion while moving forward that you don't even notice. On the D-pad up and down move forward and back, and left and right strafe left and right.

The tv out function is very nice, makes the game even easier to play!

actually it allows you to host a game on the phone itself (and it works great!), you can use wifi, not sure about Bluetooth yet. It will also let you use a Bluetooth keyboard and/or mouse if you wish.
 
I was impressed when I saw Quake II rewritten to run in Java as an applet - but this beats it hands-down! Also, the iPhone apparently has had a similar port done for it, looks interesting.
 
hei... but you can play Q3 only because n82 has a graphic accelerator... right? like n95 8gb. new nokia phones don't have graphic accelerator... like n78 n79... n86 5800 n97.

exactly.. and the n82 and n95 8GB were the last of nokia's phones that used the hardware accelerator unfortunatly..
They have this phone that's gonna come out called the nokia n87, it's like a combination of the n82 and n95 and with a touchscreen. The n87 is gonna have a 12mp camera, and it has FIVE flashes lol. It has 3 LED flashes on the back, 1 xenon flash on the back, and 1 LED flash on the front for the front camera.

In the description the guy says that this phone will have the heart of the n900. The n900 was capible of playing quake 3, so I wonder if the n87 can play quake 3 as well..


edit: I just realized these are newer documents, and it looks like they removed the slide out keypad, but I'm not sure.. if that's the case then I'd be really mad.
They may have also removed the front flash. The user that uploaded this video also has the old video, but those were the older features.
