Did you look at the picture above? That little black spot on the heat sink is the allen screw.

Thanks for the picture, but I can't seem to get the heat sink retaining ring off.
No, it came screwed on. Its just really tight I guess. I'll work on it. Thanks for all the help, don't worry I +1d you .Did you screw it on too tight? It should just twist off.
Hi, I was building a laser using moh's Aurora C6 Just Add Diode kit, and using dtr's 445 M140 with 3 element glass.
First off, I'm probably an idiot. Please forgive me. But I've come across a problem.
The module seems too long to fit between the host and the host's front.
See, this is what it looks like:

I can't screw the head of the host back in, because the module is in the way.
It's probably because I'm doing something stupidly wrong. Like should the front be flush, like this:

And what is this for:

I probably should be using that.
So if anyone can explain the error in my ways, I would be eternally grateful.
PS: also, can someone assure me that I soldered the right wires together?
What's your current setting on the driver?
Glenn
It's at 1.8A. The beam is very thick. Like 5 times thicker than my green one. Not that its a bad thing. Just didn't expect it.
Ok guys! I got it out. It was just really tight. It's so amazing! I've already lit matches and burnt through electrical tape! (Of course, wearing goggles)
Thanks for helping me so much guys, I'm very new to building lasers, though I've been a laser fanatic for many years now. I might upload beam shots, but I mean, everyone's already seen it already.
My old green 100mW took like 3 seconds to light a match. When this is focused right, I just have to wave it in front, and BAM. Instantly. This is amazing.
you just need to focus your beam
Haha no problem I know what it was like when I first got started on lasers
Not necessarily. His diode is multimode so it won't be as focused as other diodes. There's not much you can do.
