Problems of the forums. More mods?

I think our currently active mods are doing a damned fine job. I remember a few periods where almost none were active and let me tell you, the difference between then and now speaks volumes. They do make a huge difference.

Agreed with Arg about having differing opinions. It ensures a balanced approach.

Being a mod isn't an easy or fun job. Too strong of a touch sets off totalitarian alarms and upsets the populace, too light of a touch and they accuse you of doing nothing at all or worse actively encouraging the riots.

@Andrew I agree, I think the issue stems mostly from people forgetting this, or simply never approaching the forum with this attitude in the first place. We do have to keep in mind that this is often the -first and only- technical/educational/scientific forum most members here engage in. It's a different world entirely than the vast majority of internet forums. No where is it explicitly and unavoidably stated the kind of atmosphere and etiquette we try to foster. Those of us who frequent even more niche scientific communities know what is expected and what we want as second nature, but outsiders have no clue. Still, even at our most "toxic" (term used VERY loosely), LPF far from the dredges that litter the horizon.

Different opinions can be good. But we're talking about mods that will follow the rules to the letter and not base opinions on friendships. I'm just one of many that have been bullied by a mod and the friend of that mod goes unpunished.
Mods need to be mature about the situation as well.
On here to much is allowed. Members with high rep are worshiped in a way.

You're out of line. Cyparagon openly hijacked a thread just to bitch about a neg rep I returned to him. Then you banned me for it and you banned me again when I called you a biased prick.
Everyone knows you favor cyparagon. Don't try to deny it.

Mods need to be able to make a decision without being biased but this forum will never see the day. I'm so done talking about this.

VisibleGreen if you want a new mod you should first find a candidate and make a poll or something similar to see how many of the member here are in favor of your idea( may be 50+ member vote yes) then C0ldShadow will do something about it. we are living in a world where majority rules. Think of this as electing a politician. Even if this is a forum we still follow a principle. just my opinion.

Sorry, I didn't mean to generalize. Though if you wanted to you could really hurt someone's rep. I'm just saying that we should leave the moderating to the moderators and not try to take action ourselves.

No we need new mods that are going to be fair or at least work together. Mods that don't hold biased natures.

I gave context to your ban here. I banned you after you returned because of the name calling. A ban is a forced break from the forum, so that people can take a break and sleep on it. The PM you sent me showed that you weren't ready to come back yet so I sent you away for a little longer.

The reason Cyparagon did not get banned is because he didn't attempt to continue the argument after being warned not to do so.

The first stone thrown doesn't matter if the person being targeted retaliates. This isn't anything new, I had daguin tell me the same thing before I was a mod. Parading around the fact that Cyparagon threw the first rock doesn't suddenly absolve you from the fact that you too were throwing rocks.

The ban was issued for not heeding a warning. Not for derailing a thread.

And each and every member all want to speak their mind and that will only escalate further due to the 'Mood' everyone is in right now. we as a member of this forum shall cease fire, bury the hatchet, and everybody need to take a step back in order to move forward from this incident aka no more posting in this thread/any other thread. or start any thread regard this topic or mention anything about this, that's the only way this thing will die down.
