Hi, i was wondering if i should pot mod my Galileo? i know what a pot mod is and all that but i don't know why it kills you diode, is it the heat, because if it is i think the Galileo can withstand it, but is it just the heat that kills the diode in a pot mod? or is there something else that contributes to killing it?

Thanks,

You have to consider current, heat and COP.

Any one will kill you diode. High current can kill you diode fast. Heat and COP takes a while to destroy you diode slowly.

Although most lasers can't handle the extra power, the Galileo should be able to handle a pot mod. Heat isn't the only thing that kills laser diodes, the extra current going into the laser diode is what fries it, the Galileo has a bigger pump so it should be able to handle the extra power.

The Galileo has a fairly good reputation around here I think... Personally, I would leave it as is, since its a perfectly fine laser. But as others said, you can try, it should handle it.

Good luck!

Thanks for the info!! i think ill leave it alone, i don't want to mess it up since its such a good laser already.

If it ain't broke -- Don't fix it ;)
