I do most my burning outside in my campfire/marshmallow pit or in my basement that's ventilated to keep the smoke smells down, but I also keep a doodle block around for when I just can't resist.

You’re definitely creative :)
That 20W 940nm looks like a monster!

That is some good doodling Red, I should probably do the same since I always have to unplug my smoke detector when I burn things lol!

Lmao!! Funny you mention that because I always get tempted when I see it there. I forgot which member on here had posted some crazy fan burns.

I spent a few minutes trying to find a photo of a burned up fan blade here in the forum, but they were all removed!

e: i can add this showing what a single shot from a SSY-1 can do to highly flammable foam:

When you said " Oh my GOD, Puff, Puff " you should have had the wife yelling " What the hell are you doing, first our ceiling fan and now your roid pillow "

Turns out, it was a piece of foam she puts her elbow on when face painting, I didn't know.... she wasn't pleased to see what I did, but was upstairs and didn't hear it when I flashed it into flame.

There are 2 kinds of laser hobbyist, those who have had an oops, and those who eventually will.

This is why we wear the safety glasses and plan for fire safety. ;)

I expect everyone has made small mistakes, I know I have, it's the important things that we must never let our guard down on, the safety of others is something I take seriously, but if I burn myself or an object on the bench while wearing safety glasses indoors that's just an acceptable and expected occurrence. We all know what's really important and lets never forget it.

I built 5 MS Envies with new, unused M140 diodes in them for a guy here in Tacoma a few years ago. To show him they would burn, I had a brown paper bag on on a large plate in the middle of the floor. It caught fire, alright. Then all the smoke detectors went off as I was trying to get it outside. Normally, I never do any burning in the house, but it was cold and dark out when this occurred and it has never happened again.

Oh man that’s true, I accidentally burned my girlfriends hope chest and tried to use a white sharpie to cover it up, somehow she saw it and ask what happened!?

Sh!7 I thought I was the only one. There’s been a time or 100 I momentarily zapped a tiny inconspicuous spec of varnish of some wood.
That’s funny.

This poor spray paint cap gave it's life after receiving a shot of 532nm @3W from about 40'.
