Possible PHR-803T Source

Hmm not sure about them being perfect in that case, they were already established to be seconds, and being free I'd expect them to be extremely "second" :)

I wouldn't expect the free samples to be perfect in the sense that they were not planning on sending him free samples anyways. The point is that the company does not give out free samples, therfore they have no seperate "Bin" for the perfect samples which should mean that he will get the regular old sleds ;). As long as the diode isn't the "Bad" part of the sleds, these should turn out alright.

Maybe Omega could try e-Mailing them back and ask what the "Majority" problem was with the sleds or if the diode was the bad part of the sleds, then he can get a pretty good idea if these would be good or not. Since he is getting free samples it shouldn't matter too much but he may want to ask just in case ;).

If this all works out he just pocketed 2 free 803t's and could be able to make a great GB ;D.

Sounds like a good plan,

Maybe Omega and 666DAN could pull togeather and have a huge GB ::).

If you guys need a supplier (another one) laser-jp.com told me for 100 sleds of phr-803t is 18$ usd

how in the world did my luck do a 180?
she just told me her boss would pay shipping as well. my free samples are. well. free.
im hoping the diodes are fine, id gladly sell this first bunch im going to get, and then set up a GB and buy em clean.
i certainly lucked out, these are some fine people im dealing with.

Wow, that really works out good for you :). Now you don't even have to pay for shipping. I hope they work out alright, it would make another nice GB ;).

I posted that I wanted 25 earlier on, but put me down for 10 actually. let us know if you want pre-payments after the samples turn out good.

The "broken" sleds from ndrew that I got all were in awesome shape. He packaged it all really well and none of the windows were broken. I hope this source turns out to be similar in quality.

thanks,
Kendall

well she said they would ship ASAP, she mentioned a typhoon going on, so there would be a delay. but its shipping by ems, so its a 3 day ship :]
if these samples turn out good (which im really really hoping for), i intend to turn this into a group buy. that way the amount ordered is not limited to my wallet.
im hoping for the best, ill make up a list of requests so far later.

ems from china usually takes about a week to the us granted there are no hang ups with customs or somethin. my supplier told me last night they had the broken phr sleds back in stock as well.

If a GB comes together, I am in for 5, or less if the max turns out to be less. No problem prepaying via Paypal or Google Checkout if needed to get the funds together.

No offense meant to the Big Sellers, but I like the idea of limiting the maximum order so a larger base gets diodes - these group buys should help expand the hobby by making ordinarily inaccessible parts available to everyone. If a single person can buy out half (or more) of the stock, it's not really a 'group' buy, is it?

A "group buy" is not limited by the amount of pieces that the organizer can purchase with his/her own money. In a "group buy" the organizer collects the money up front for any items desired. That's right, you pay before (sometimes LONG before) the items are even ordered. When the deadline is reached, the available number of units (per the supplier) is reached, or no one else wants to participate, then the organizer orders the units. The organizer isn't really risking their money because the funds are collected before the buy is made. That is one of the reasons we are fairly picky about who runs a group buy. We have to trust the person to manage the funds effectively. We have seen what can happen if the person does not manage the funds well with the BlueFusion fiasco. In a true group buy, you want as many units paid for in advance as possible. The more units bought, the lower the price. In a true group buy, you WANT the "big buyers" in the buy so that YOU can get the lowest possible price for your limited number of units. This is the real value of a group buy.

What has been happening lately are NOT group buys. It is simply limited retail. If the "organizer" is buying all the units up front, then he/she is simply selling what they bought at cost (or for a little profit). When it is done this way the organizer has to come up with all the money and hope that the people who "committed" to buy actually do buy (or he/she has to keep selling until they are done). This is simply resale. This type of action is severely limited to how much money the organizer has available and can afford to risk. That is why they need to (and you want to) limit the number of units sold to any one individual. We have seen this repeatedly lately. We see, "I am going to do a "group buy". but I can only afford to buy about 15 units." That's not a group buy. That is a small business person getting started.

Peace,
dave

Well like I said before, if the sleds are of good quality, I am all willing to set up a paypal account and turn this into a group buy.
And ndrew, a week you say? Man, waiting is the hardest part :[
I ordered a driver and aixiz module yesterday, so ill have the necessary parts to see if these diodes work properly. Ill be looking for any and all issues, and plan to ask my provider as to what made them "bad" as well.
I just hope this all goes good, and I can send you all plenty of inexpensive sleds! ;D

If you make a GB can you please make an option for google checkout too?
And for the love of god don't make a ridiculous ~$12 shipping cost! Thank you. :)
