Possible First Car

You'd think that, but as someone else who isn't super social, the mileage does add up fast!

Also, statistically speaking you're almost guaranteed to wreck your first car. Happened almost everyone I know, including myself (though I wasn't at fault), so don't get too attached.

Haha, ok. I'll try to be very careful then :)

How do you like the car?

It's kind of bland :-/ I mean it's very comfortable, it has a decent amount of power to it, much, much, better gas mileage versus my crown vic, but it doesn't have much character to it. After years of driving the crown vic, it just feels wrong somehow. Hopefully that will pass, and I have to say the less frequent gas stops are already making a difference.

Thanks IE! Yeah, gas on these things is pretty expensive indeed. I guess this is when not having a social life comes in handy :D

-Alex

Be thankful you won't need to pay $1.34/L with that kind of MPG :D

I'm not going to start complaining about my truck and gas prices... ;)

Enjoy the new ride! Keep in mind driving something like an SUV can take a little getting used to if you haven't driven anything that size before. Don't be discouraged if you find it difficult at first!

Woop woop, 4000 posts.

You might want to consdier parts and service --- Isuzu Motors America discontinued the sale of passenger vehicles in the United States effective January 31, 2009. The company explained to its dealers that it had not been able to secure replacements for the Isuzu Ascender and Isuzu i-Series that would be commercially viable. Isuzu sold 7,098 cars in the year 2007.

Isuzu Ascender is basically a rebadged GMC Envoy --you should maybe contact GMC Dealer and see if parts and service for Isuzu Ascender are available from them. See: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isuzu_Ascender

You might want to look at other makes and models depending many factors concerning Isuzu .

PS Don't forget to get a Carfax report http://www.carfax.com/ or an Autocheck report http://www.autocheck.com/vehiclehistory/?siteID=2191&WT.mc_id=2191&gclid=CObjhaOc2cYCFYiPHwodidMNhQ on the particular vehicle/VIN you are considering to see it's actual history.

Just my two cents, I was a little wary of a Isuzu, but then Encap wrote of the GMC relation so thats on the positive side as for parts.. How up north are you located in CA, meaning snow fall and plowing with salt an chemicals. Here in MA I have replaced rusted brake, fuel etc lines at least 3 time on the same car over 3 years. Also SUVs in general have issues with the front transaxles wich is costly, that would be my first on the list to talk to mechanic. It seams you bought the car and posting with you Ive learned your a very bright kid and addressed this issue. Just had to throw like I said my two cents in and WOW I didnt know you drove a crown vic police intercepter nice. Enjoy

Still do until some reasonably lucky SOB buys it. Car is too old to put in money on a paint job, but that's really the only thing actually wrong with it. I miss the old war horse already :p

Congrats on your first car : D ,

Still have my first car , its a Peugeot 206 3 door 1.4 , After 1 1/2 years and 8000 miles of driving only one scratch due to a lost battle with a wall .....

I paid 500$. And put a lot into it. I also have an isuzu i got for 300. The isuzu v6 is kinda a garbage motor. And depending if its all wheel drive or four wheel drive would determine if it has a front transaxle or a transfercase and front diff

Shouldn't it be just GS or GSX? Not sure what GSS is, maybe Gran Sport Skylark (Buick Skylark GS).

Bingo your right, I was trying to register with GSStage1 but I believe it said allready posted or something that way and I was going for the GSS1 and same thing, so GSS it is. You know your buicks, it would be nice if my GS had the GSX option:)

Hey GSS.

I live up North in the Central Valley by Sacramento, so no snow here. The car checked out good the only problems which should be fixed soon as told by the mechanic was as follows:

1) Rear brake pads are @ 2mm
2) Rear tire threads are starting to wear down. Thread is at 3/43(is that it?)
3) Transmission fluid is dark
4) Need a new spare tire
5) Parking brake dosent hold

I was told by the mechanic brakes should be taken care of first, then the tires. I still haven't bought the car but the seller is willing to take $4,500 for it instead of the original price of $4,800.

:anyone:

I know literally nothing about cars, but if you think it's a good buy, then you should do it. However, try offering a bit lower. You can usually get a bit more off the price than they've willing to give at first.
