Pondering Why 532 is not selling.

I know that here lately I my self has put up a few 60 + 532 pointers up for sale! I even seen some of the 100 + Take forever to sell. Is it just every new person wants 1w 445's 500 + mw 405's and other high powered ones. I personally like things under a Hundred mw most of the time!

I Personally like 532 nm I enjoy the color quite a lot and its really easy to light up my yard at night when I shooting a beam and my storage shed! While other wave lengths can do more 532 is just fun if you use it responsibly.

I have a total of 11 532's

Do any of you have similar stories of wavelengths not selling or is it just the time of year?

Mostly because a lot of people here condemn 532nm lasers when "noobs" ask about them. Saying things like "the crystals can be knocked out of alignment.", or "they are not reliable.". Although many of the people that say this also own or would buy 473nm lasers. Personally I like 532nm lasers, as they are honestly my favorite wavelength. Less power, yet more visibility. My only concerns are with the ones lacking IR filters, Which may also be why they are not recommended to "noobs" now that I think of it. None the less, I like the greenies, and prefer them under 100mw. I have lasers 1-3W, but You will more likely see me with a sub 100mw 532 or 405 in my hand.

Pssh on the less reliable. I have a cheap 532 ebay pen thats 2 years old and been through hell and it still works. Plus I've found DPSS I own always have cleaner dots and better divergence then my straight diode lasers.

532 is hands down my favorite wave length. Funny you made this thread as I was just wondering the other night why 445 and 450nm are so popular. I like my only blue which is a sci fi 2 W but unless there's fog I rarely bring it out at night. However I use my 532 close to every night for as my wife puts it, getting some good beam time.

It isn't unusual for things here to take a long time to sell, it can even take a year, I think sometimes people don't know this and lower their price to sell something faster when they don't need to, I think we have as many members looking to sell as we have buyers, that is part of it.

I think more of a reason in this case though is 532nm, there are so many cheap 532's from China or eBay or Amazon that everyone has at least one. Notice in your sigs that all of you own 532nm lasers. Unless it is one that is high power and very expensive then there will be less demand for it than other lasers.

Another problem is the sales thread, just my opinion but to me it's very confusing. In the original post you clearly state you are selling 3 lasers for $160, there is no detailed description or photos. That by itself will cause any potential buyer to move along. Then in post number 3 Pman changes things and says that 2 of the lasers must be purchased together in a separate package. He then lists 5 more lasers, this time with a good description and a photo of all 5 (this is much better) but then he posts a photo of only 3 of them turned on, that photo should have shown all 5 of them turned on. At this point the price for the 2 lasers or for the other 5 is unclear. You then have a possible buyer in post 6, then in post 7 you now change the price to $160 for all 7 lasers. Then in post 10 Pman says the price is whatever you agree to, to me that means you are open to offers. In post 11 your possible buyer seems to have been told the price is now over $300, Pman then repeats that the price is whatever you agree and in post 13 you loose the buyer because the price doubled.:wtf: In the very next post you say this is 160 :wtf: on page 2 post 18 you have now added an additional unknown laser and now say 8 lasers for 160 :wtf: Pman then says its 7 from him and one from you. At this point it seem there are no longer 2 that have to be purchased separately, also still no photos of 3 of the 8 lasers! :wtf:

I myself fully trust you and Pman and wouldn't be reluctant to buy from either of you if you had what I need, but you can't assume that about everyone, after the confusing sale thread I predict these will never sell. My suggestion is to post a clear description with a price and a photo and a second photo showing it works of each of the 8 lasers for sale. Then offer them individually or at a discount if they buy all 8 or maybe if they buy 4 of them, and if your willing to take offers then say so but don't keep saying so if the prices are non negotiable.

Those are pretty solid points. That thread confused me. I agree make a new thread with everything in order and I bet you will have more luck. I may be interested in one of them if I knew what the price was individually. Keep in mind that although 160 dollars for the lot may be a great deal the way the thread reads is confusing to someone interested in just one or two but not sure how to explain which one due to the broken up pics and multiple prices. When selling stuff I try to assume that the sellers are only willing to put forth minimal effort to try to buy especially if they're on the fence. I'm kind of lazy like that. If things like ebay and paypal weren't so quick and effortless I would probably only buy a fraction of the purchases I make.
Good luck vortish. You will sell them just make it as easy as possible for potential buyers.
Cheers buddy..

Thanks Pi R Square and Nwfree those are solid points. Will keep that in mind

I don't own a lot of lasers. I have a Staples Red Pointer, and had complained that it was far too weak to use in daylight to a buddy of mine, and he said he could make me a 532 nm 80 mw that would work better in daylight...so, I also have that single pen too, and, I use it all the time.

Getting the 80 mw 532 though, caused me to start considering lasers in a new light so to speak, and, he (Tmack) then made me a 445 3 w in an MS Envy host when I mentioned a fatter beam would be useful for some things, plus the burning idea was of interest.

So, for me, that's all I've got. Its definitely piqued my curiosity, and, its why I then joined here, to learn more. Alaskan is sending me another 532 as you know, and that will increase my total laser collection by a large percentage, and make 1/2 of all the lasers I have be 532's.

:D

I love 532, But the wavelengths I really would like to own are 543, 589.1 488, 494 I have 632.8 actually two of those but I would like really to have all the wavelengths of HeNe's out there. I also would not mine a HeCd but those are expensive and rare! would not mide a ML argon or ArKr but those will come in time I am fortunate to have what I do have

At least you might know what you want.

I'm at the point right now where I really don't know what I want.

I'm not a collector really, but, more of a pragmatic about what I get. If I will USE something, even for a small niche application, fine...I'll get it. If its just to have as a novelty, there's no pull.

I DO tend to rationalize when I want something of course, and, the 3 watt 445 is a good example of that. It DOES do things the 80 mw 532 can't, but, to be honest with myself, I would have survived w/o it....but I'd rather survive WITH it...its too much fun.

:D

I expect that over time, I'll start to see what works for me, and gravitate in that direction, and, acquire additional lasers. I also am looking at transitioning from buying to making, after I have a better idea of WHAT I will find more useful/fun than what I already have.
