PLUG & PLAY CO2 BURNING LASERS only $150 DELIVERED

Re: OUTRIGHT BUY! 15W RF EXCITED CO2 BURNING LASER

I hooked my laser just the laser tube to my 100 watt ham radio at 27.1190 mhz and my auto antenna tuner actually tuned the tube with swrs down 1.1.1 very exciting!!! I turned the lights down so I could see the tube glow and started with 15 watts into it all the way up to 100 watts transmitting in fm mode then I tried Ritty mode it was ausome to see the diffrent tempertures (brightness of burn on the plywood) variable power at last,!!! this is so cool at 100 watts it doesnt do as good as the amp it came with but not to far off ;D

Re: OUTRIGHT BUY! 15W RF EXCITED CO2 BURNING LASER

Nice idea!! Glad to see that the SWR can be tuned down. The FSK shouldn't do much I wouldn't think. Now go SSB and send audio on an invisable beam :D

I'm trying to figure what lenses to get for a beam expander.

Re: OUTRIGHT BUY! 15W RF EXCITED CO2 BURNING LASER

Let me know I have a convex znsn coming but Im still trying to figure that out too. I did ssb and just whisled into it but forgot to look at my power meter. I was only getting 60 watts into it on ritty but Im not done testing gonna put an out bord antenna tuner on it  with a power/ swr meter :D kinda fun burning wood with just a whistle 8-)

Re: OUTRIGHT BUY! 15W RF EXCITED CO2 BURNING LASER

:D AWESOME!!!! Now just think what it would do if you hooked a 500watt amp to it! I like the antenna tuner idea, I wonder if they are all at 27.119? has anyone else measured the frequency? :-? The 2 lasers I got were slightly different, one requires 12v as well as the pwm, and 28v... So, im thinking they may be slightly different here.
Could you hear anything from the beam when you did these tests? :-?
Plus this is also a way to run it from 12v instead of 28! :D

Re: OUTRIGHT BUY! 15W RF EXCITED CO2 BURNING LASER

no I didnt hear anything but I want another tube so I can put it up on the tower ;D

Re: OUTRIGHT BUY! 15W RF EXCITED CO2 BURNING LASER

[smiley=thumbsup.gif] LOL!!! I wonder if a solar cell would extract the audio at a huge distance!? What did the swr start off at before you used the tuner? Did the power level seem to effect the tuning any? (hear the tuner re-tune as you increased power?)

Re: OUTRIGHT BUY! 15W RF EXCITED CO2 BURNING LASER

onced it tuned it held it but my peice of coax was shorted so when i get a chance I need to make a new 10 foot jumper it was neet to be able to go directly to the tube and ajust its power with my radio I wish I didnt sell my dentron clipperton l 1200 watts would really light things up lol :o

Re: OUTRIGHT BUY! 15W RF EXCITED CO2 BURNING LASER

mike what setting do you put your 362 on for this laser... mine works on 1. am I in the ballpark? ::)

Re: OUTRIGHT BUY! 15W RF EXCITED CO2 BURNING LASER

I may have goofed on the PM. the 1 scale is 1 Watt full scale. The 10 scale is 10 watts F.S. That's where you should be with the CO2 at max. I've been using my 365 meter -- it reads to 20 watts.

Re: OUTRIGHT BUY! 15W RF EXCITED CO2 BURNING LASER

I just replaced that large RGg400 with some teflon coax similar to RG174.  Much easier to handle and will fit better into the housing.

Mike

My power supply smoked out :( Looked like an easy fix. Replaced a tant cap.. Running again ;D

Chris -- I'd like a schematic. I adjusted the coil and dropped the SWR by 30 watts.

Re: OUTRIGHT BUY! 15W RF EXCITED CO2 BURNING LASER

Mike I smoked somthing too :( trying to check the darn swr check your pm I have a question thanks couldnt leave well enough alone Lynn :'(

Re: OUTRIGHT BUY! 15W RF EXCITED CO2 BURNING LASER

oooh, you BOTH blew the power supply? sounds like it's too easy to blow it. Mines still working, now im afraid to try adjusting it! :o

Re: OUTRIGHT BUY! 15W RF EXCITED CO2 BURNING LASER

I herd that If it workin leave it alone My freq counter showes the freq but not enough power to fire the tube time to hook it up to my radio again darn :( Chris if you can hear me I need a new amp :) thanks Lynn :'(

Re: OUTRIGHT BUY! 15W RF EXCITED CO2 BURNING LASER

I've blown up 3 tant caps so far  :(  Always the same one in the 7812 Voltage regulator.  10 mFd @35 volt.  I have to use an old analog meter to measure because of the RF but the cap gets hot with 12 VDC on it.   Mine is putting out more power than ever but that damn cap blows up - litterly POW  >:(
Gotta love RF power...

Mike

I just noticed that my PWM dropped from 24 KHz to ~ 16 KHz. This could cause the output cap from that 12 Volt regulator to work harder in the 1st amp stage.

Re: OUTRIGHT BUY! 15W RF EXCITED CO2 BURNING LASER

nightstick: What happened when your amp blew up?

Hemlock Mike: Try using a 50V 10uf tantalum plus a 1uf at 100V mono CAPACITOR ;)
