how do you drive them? I was not successful in building a driver for my monitor crt8tyeight said:You can take the globe off if you like, it is sealed. However if you want to put it back together be careful not to break the globe, it is glued into the base. It is easiest just to remove the top part of the base and the globe at the same time leaving them attached. The steel wool in the small sphere in the center will remain there when you remove it. I couldn't find a "good" use for such a week flyback transformer so I built an ozone generator out of mine to see if it could be done.
Just an fyi, flyback transformers are the high voltage source in CRT monitors and TVs. Only differences being, they are allot more powerful and usually rectified(DC). You can use your old monitor to build a ionic wind (lifter) www DOT youtube DOT com/watch?v=crCiO367XEQ&feature=related
