I live in a flat under a flight path with a plane going over every 15 mins.
The planes go directly in front of the flat, do you think I would be ok to use
my lasers shining it parallel to the ground in the back or would that cause problems ??
 





Most pilots would still report that as a sighting and multiple reports will warrant the police showing up to investigate. I would advise it. Even though youre not shining it at them its still a distraction if they are on a VFR approach.
 
:( that sucks, only here for 9 months so will have to restrict my lasering
 
I agree with speedy. There's just so much negative press about lasers in flight paths. Some jerk on the ground could falsely accuse you of pointing them at planes. Not worth the risk. :yabbem:
 
I don't see how shining it in the confines of my back garden would cause a problem ? as long as I wasn't shining it above 45 degrees it shouldn't make a difference, I'm not even sure they would register it as they would be looking ahead rather whats down below

Well you are probably right. As long as the spot was on a fence or something. IDK :yh:

Me, I always want to see the beam going off into infinity. But I live so far out in the sticks we don't even have addresses. :D
 
i just don't know how the feds think tho ??? I'll only shine it in to infinity after the planes have passed, it's not as if they have wing mirrors , lol :)
 
Unfortunately I have the same problem. As you may have noticed all the pictures of my lasers are indoors. :( Out of an abundance of caution I do not use them outside at all at my place. With the exception of in the woods that are about 5km from my house, I figure there is enough cover there that I am okay. Even nervous with my HID spotlight. :(

I will remember when I get my own place to make sure it's far from any airports/flight lanes. For the noise reasons too. :mad:

It dose suck a fat one :( just wish i could lase more outside, I lase just after the planes go over for a few mins that gives it 10 mins + on the safe side i would imagine
 
I know what you mean, I live near an army reserve that has helicopters in the sky all the time along with a small airport right next to it. Another larger Airport not too far also. I am soooooo careful when lasing outside. Planes just seem to appear overhead at night. I basically just shoot the beam up for a few seconds and look around. I feel paranoid.
 
Due to all the negative press about them pilots with report damn near any laser aimed anywhere. I have had police escorted to houses before for seeing lasers in the vicinity of aircraft or approch corridors before and im a laserist. You just wouldnt understand how focused ypu need to be to land a plane and the slightest distraction can cause a pilot to pull away from whats important enough to have a catastrophic miscalculation. We even report lights that are too bright so its not just lasers.
 
Lase outside only when there is overcast .. you can also use flightradar24.com to check actual flight, or get yourself ADSB receiver. It will only detect and show commercial high-flying aircraft, not for example ambulance helicopters.
 
I'm so happy, I'm living at the periphery of my town and the nearest airport is at 50Km. It's pretty good in Romania: no n00bs that buy strong lasers...
