Here are my 3 high output pen lasers. I have always wanted a high output pen laser and now i have 3. I bought 2 of these lasers from members on this forum.(CrazySpaz, Alien Laser). i would like to thank both of you for the great deals :D

Sanwu 445nm Pocket Laser:Has a soft start driver,G7 lens with a very wide rectangle beam more so then the 3 element but its a much wider lens so more light can get through. Same divergence as 3 element. very solid little laser and is heavier then the other pen lasers lol.

Crazyspaz 445nm m140 1.2w Pen laser: This laser had a g2 lens installed but i put the 3 element lens from the 470nm pen and put it in this laser and the g2 lens in the 470nm laser. this laser has a rectangle beam with good as good a divergence as your gonna get with 445nm multimode

Alien Laser 470nm NDB7675 1.7W Pen laser: I have a G2 lens installed and the beam is much tighter/thinner then the others and much brigher and more vibrant. The color difference between this laser and my 445nm is insane. this looks like a teal/turquoise compared to them. not as light as my 473nm but its very very close. Its to hard to compare as my 473nm is only 120mw. to much of a power difference. 468-471nm is what i would guess. My 445nm lasers look like 405 when i turn this laser on. just crazy how our eyes perceive colors when comparing them. This laser also has thermal protection. when the laser reaches 122 degrees F it will drop down to 30% power. I have yet to have it get that hot.

Here are some Photos of the lasers them selves.

LPM Graphs NOTE:i used the 1.2w 445nm pen to get the meter up to 1200mw then quickly switched to the 470nm pen so to get a peak reading closer to turn on, thats why it jumps half way.

Im sure if i used a fast response LPM we would see the 445nm pen start around 1400mw and the 470nm start around 1800mw but i only have a 30sec response Radiant x4 meter. wish they were not so expensive

Here are some updated beamshots of the two pens in almost dark conditions. These really show the color well :)

I just averted disaster today with the 1.2w 445nm pen. I went to turn it on this morning and the brightness must have been 200mw and it was all hazey around the spot. I took the lens off and turned it on and the output was all messed up. I quick turned it iff because i realized something got in the diode window. I took out the batteries and got a alchaol swab and a quetip and very gently twisted the moisten quetip on the diode window. I let it dry for a min and took a magnifying glass and it cleaned it up perfectly so i dident turn it on long enough to melt the glass : D. Its perfect again. There are pecies of teflon tape at the bottom of the cavity next to the diode so im pretty sure thats what it was. Im going to get all the small peices out later today.

Hi,
When you use teflon on the lens threads only the 1/3 of the lens thread is covered threading into the focus ring. This will eliminate any getting on the window. When you apply the tape keep running your fingers around the threads while keeping pressure on it. This will get the tape softer and malleable into the threads. You only need to wrap 1-1/2 times around or less you don't need a lot. Always start the tape in a clockwise direction this way the over lap won't walk the tape out..
Glad you saved the window ....

Rich:)

What I do instead of Teflon tape is use a tighter spring.
Nice pics. Have a lot of pens and others that I haven't built yet. I'll try to REP. Can't yet:(

Thanks for the updated beamshots. One thing to show the color better, do some side-shots.

Love the cloth:beer: That is one pretty pen.

that microfiber cloth put micro scratches in the pen laser. :( Its not that bad but still sucks. can someone recommend a nice cloth that will take my finger prints off and the oils but not scratch it up ?

darn mirror pen lasers are so delicate lol. i think id rather it be a satin finish or sand blast so the finger prints don't show

When you think you can't resist the scratches anymore, use some never-dull or polish and that should do the job.

Thanks,
