PBS Cube, AR Dichro, Mount, Goggles - SHIPS SOON!

Re: PBS Cubes(650/473) + AR Dichros + Mounts + Gog

So here's some good news. Due to the Chinese New Year, Bridge would like to prepare part of the group buy order to send over to us. Unfortunately we do not nearly have enough participants to get all of the items sent over.

If we boost the overall percentage of the group buy to say 35-45% there is a very high chance that we could have our items by early to mid February. Of course the higher the percentage the better! We're already at about 20% (19.44% to be exact) 20-30% more and we're golden!

The group buy would remain open.

So nows the time to tell your friends. If you know of anyone and I mean ANYONE that would need optics, goggles or mounts let them know. If you know physics professors at a local college let them know. This is their chance to get high quality gear for a fraction of the cost.

If you don't have the cash now its fine! As long as you have it in mid February. I will hold items until I receive payment.

Don't have a google checkout account? PM me! I will accept checks, MO, credit (through google checkout or paypal).

IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS PM ME!

Thanks everyone. I hope we can make it there in time :)

Re: PBS Cube, AR Dichro, Mount, Goggles - SHIPS SO

Ok, put me down for a total of 2, 15mm^3 650nm PBS Cubes. ;)

Re: PBS Cube, AR Dichro, Mount, Goggles - SHIPS SO

So the 650nm goggles are 25 bucks. Does that include shipping? :-?
Oh, and are you going to ship them through USPS? Thanks ;D

Re: PBS Cube, AR Dichro, Mount, Goggles - SHIPS SO

Nothing includes shipping. The shipping costs will likely be around 5-8 bucks (within the 48 states) and I will ship through USPS parcel post or Priority mail if it's cheaper. If anyone needs faster shipment they can let me know and I'll make arrangements.

Re: PBS Cube, AR Dichro, Mount, Goggles - SHIPS SO

All right, then I'm in for a pair of 650nm goggles.

Re: PBS Cube, AR Dichro, Mount, Goggles - SHIPS SO

Just to make it official I really hate BlueFusion and SenKat. I was completely clueless on lasers until I saw the instructable and their posts and now I'm going to go broke buying all this exciting stuff. Darn you all :-)

I plan on getting as many things as I can afford at the moment so this is a great GB for me, but I have to figure the budget and the right parts.

I still have a few technical questions so I can get the right things.

I just have a couple of the red diodes from Senkat and a couple from ebay, is it correct to assume that they are all polarized so that I can use the PBS to combine 2 of them? Or are normal diode based lasers random in nature? I want to increase cutting power so I can do thin plastics or faster speeds on paper.

But I'm also getting excited about the white laser concept and mixing and projectors and ...... :-)

Will the white laser goggles be enough for all my experiments or do I actually need color specific goggles plus the white one?

The laser diodes on projectors are probably pulsed with microcontrollers, right? So if I get a 3-axis kit and eventually buy blue and green lasers in the >100mW to combine with Senkat's all that I need? I'm confused on the stuff I've seen so far on projectors and using galvos versus mirrors glued on motors. I imagine building a board to pulse the lasers at around 200 KHz to turn it on at the right "pixels"

Ahhhh, still sooooo much to read. Any info appreciated, I still have a lot of catching up with the forum.

Thanks,

Alberto

Re: PBS Cube, AR Dichro, Mount, Goggles - SHIPS SO

Ok, I'm going to do my best to respond in my half asleep state (its 3:30am here now...) I accidentally stayed up until 2am because I didn't realize how late it was and I have to be at work at 6am tomorrow. All nighters are fun :)

Yeah Lasers and being broke seem to go hand in hand. LOL

Yeah the diodes you have will be polarized. You can see it when there is no lens on them, the beam has a shape much like an oval. If you drew a line from tip to tip of the outter most parts of the oval that is the polarization. So when using the PBS cube you want to have one of the ovals on its side and one standing on its end. You'll get a much better understanding of it a few minutes after playing around with a PBS cube :)

White light lasers are beautiful beasts! And you'll only need the white light pair of goggles. In fact the one white light pair would be suitable for all your laser work. However, it is useful to have goggles for each wavelength at times too. Like for example if you are only working with a 650nm laser you should wear goggles that block just the red wavelengths this will give you maximum visibility. Similarly if you have a really high power laser you might want to wear multiple pairs of goggles for just that wavelength.

As far as Modulating the lasers on and off for the "right pixels" as you stated, the whole process is pretty simple. First there are two types of modulation TTL and Analog.

TTL - Simply either turns the laser on or off
Analog - Allows the laser to have a varying intensity from 0-100%

For modulation you need a proper driver for the lasers you plan on using. A driver that allows for modulation.

Then you need a DAC (Digital to Analog Converter) which will convert computer signals generated from a program to an analog 5v signal that will be used to modulate the lasers.

The same DAC is used to control the Galvos which are the tiny motors that move the laser around.

Let me know what you need and I'll add you to the list. Down the road ask more questions and post pictures of your laser projector once its finished.... I like pictures ;)

Re: PBS Cube, AR Dichro, Mount, Goggles - SHIPS SO

I am interested in goggles for red and for green lasers, do you recomend white light type or 2 sets? If 2 sets 1 -red & 1-green, will shipping charge be same as 1? Thanks! Glenn

Re: PBS Cube, AR Dichro, Mount, Goggles - SHIPS SO

Hey mliptack, just to clarify, since I didn't see anybody else want red goggles, except for scopeguy20, (but he doesn't count since he just posted) I saw you posted 2 pairs, I only want one. You know what I mean, goggles are usually mentioned as (pairs) but I only want one 650nm goggles. Crap I'm confused now. ;D

Re: PBS Cube, AR Dichro, Mount, Goggles - SHIPS SO

Scopeguy - It depends on what you're planning to do with them. If you are using the lasers mostly separately I would suggest two separate pairs. But if you plan to combine the two into one yellow beam then the white light goggles will be better otherwise you would have to wear two pairs of goggles :)

Chido - No worries my friend, haha, I understood you, and I only have you down for one pair. Keep in mind this group buy is open to another forum ;)

Re: PBS Cube, AR Dichro, Mount, Goggles - SHIPS SO

OK ITS TIME!

Everyone in the group buy. Send me a PM, I will respond with an invoice from Google Checkout. If I haven't already sent you one.

If you would like to be a part of the 1st part of the group buy write here!!!

If you are already a part of it, but I didn't get an invoice sent to you LET ME KNOW NOW!!! I've been checking and re-checking my PMs, but I am sure I missed someone and I'm sorry!

Thanks,
Max

Re: PBS Cube, AR Dichro, Mount, Goggles - SHIPS SO

OH AND PLEASE INCLUDE YOUR EMAIL and SHIPPING ADDRESS AND COUNTRY!!!!

Re: PBS Cube, AR Dichro, Mount, Goggles - SHIPS SO

PMs sent, I sent you two of them, the first one with my order, and then I saw the post above, so I sent another one with my address. Oh, and what's an invoice, sorry I have only used google checkout to buy from stonetek, but I like it better than paypal. ;D
PS: I see you live in Wisconsin, I live in the Twin Cities, I hope shipping is a little faster. :)
EDIT: NVM I just found out what that is. I feel stupid now. :-[ ;D

Re: PBS Cube, AR Dichro, Mount, Goggles - SHIPS SO

:)

Glad you figured it out... if anyone else needs to know.

The google checkout invoice is an email just saying you need to pay X amount and why. It works you through the process really simply :)

Way better than PayPal IMO.
