Paranoid: Will I have eye damage?

It may be degenerative. It's actually one of the main dangers. Especially if there is some blood left in the eye (which was Xoul's case). Such wounds are susceptible to infections, in which case whole eye is in danger. That's why the doctors removed as much blood from his eye as possible and why he got pills.
But then again, as I said .. if you did not even see afterimages (right after 'exposure' I mean), you'll be fine.

Btw. no, I'm not 'real' doctor ..

Hey Guyfromhe, I just did a amsler grid test (thanks for that suggestion!) and set my desktop background to a bright white. Withthe Amsler grid, I didn't notice any wavy or blatantly missing lines. With the white screen, I noticed no dark spots! I feel much better now, but will be booking an appointment in the coming week to get an exam! I think this was a good scare as I need to be more diligent getting an annual optical exam!

Hi DrSid, I guess you posted while I was doing my test! Out of curiosity, what do you mean exactly by afterimages? Are they like dark spots? or something like if you stared at a lightblub for a while and closed your eyes you'd see that white silhouette of the lightblub?

If you had no problems with either of those tests you are likely OK. Your brain can compensate for small damage though so getting checked is still a good idea.

Afterimages is like the bright spots you see after you get a flash picture taken, or stare at a light bulb.

Ah excellent, thanks! :)

Xoul - Would you say your vision is all back to normal nowadays or is there still something noticeable since the 'issue' with the laser?

There are several cool afterimage illusions. Check Wikipedia:

Afterimage - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

What I'm talking is generally the same. If you get dazzled by strong light, you will 'see' it for several more seconds or even minutes. You can try it with Sun. Just look into it for one second (not longer, could be dangerous too). You will see black spot for seconds. Afterimages can be seen better by fast blinking.

Mostly. I still have a small blind spot that sort of resembles the shape of California. It's not in the center vision, but slightly down/left. I don't notice it at all if I'm looking through both eyes.
