Oversized LED

I got this from DX today and it is RIDICULOUS! Just look at it!

20mm in diameter! Frickin huge! Hugemongous.

Compared to 3mm.

You'd think it would have a huge die as well, but it doesn't. Looks like any ordinary sized die.

Small current going through it.

20mA, with flash.

Without flash.

Voltage drop is 3.21V at 20mA.

Just like any other LED including brightness, only super sized.
Pretty overpriced for what it is, but it makes a fine addition to the collection lol. What does one do with something like this anyway?

I've seen big LEDs like that used in jumbotrons. These days they're mostly RGB LEDs to allow for higher resolutions, but they used to use three of those.

Make a laser with it

Would be much cooler if it were brighter than regular LEDs.
