So there I was... deployed and bored with a bunch of buddies waiting to start our day at 1am :tired:.
One of the new guys said he had something cool in his bag. Said he got it from a local shop for $50. So he whipped it out and shined the brightest green laser into the sky that I had ever seen. I remember thinking to myself, "the light must be visible from 50 or even 100 miles away." I just couldn't believe how powerful the light was. In the end, I'm not sure if I was more impressed by the laser, or the stupidity of that guy for showing the entire region our exact location :scowl:. Noobs will be noobs no matter where they are or what they're doing :na:.
Obviously I was hooked on anything lasers after that. In about a month I went from absolutely no knowledge about lasers to slapping together a quick and dirty ~3W 445nm handheld. Mostly thanks to the folks posting all the great info here at LPF.:thanks:
Glad to be joining this great community to keep building and learning about lasers. Hopefully I'll be able to contribute some of my very limited knowledge in the future. So far no catastrophes; therefore, no big lessons learned.
Can't get smarter by typing so I'll get back to reading again.
