Osram PLT5-510 10mW 515nm Laser Diode

Here is a nice little gem. A green diode that can actually be run down to 5mW but also looks to be able to go way above rated output. Not sure where I would run these yet but looks pretty impressive. This diode does have a strange pinout and is case positive.

Hi Jordan,
This is my 510nm diode i had purchased a long time ago i set it low but don't remember at what mA.. It's been specto and i have the print out. Glad you put this into thread folks were asking many ??? about this in the past and i posted on it also wonderful little green gotta have it in a collection no doubt..

Rich:)

I went ahead and graphed the data you took. Seems like the "safe" current is somewhere in the yellow zone, maximum 250mA or so. The efficiency slope changes at 136mA and again at 258mA. I'll probably run mine around 50mW/160mA, should be plenty of power to go with my red and blue diodes :)

Weird graph all the way up. But lots of overhead on this little diode. Looking forward to getting my hands on one.

So this is actually a 515nm diode. Are you saying the safe power is about 75 mW? Just trying to get a picture of what can be done with it. Thanks for the information.

Thanks for the test DTR.
I'll be looking forward to using it in a 5mW pen build. (when I get around to it).

It looks like many of these new diodes we're seeing are quite robust.

Very interesting, I' love to see one spectro'd.

DTR, what's the color like compared to the other low power green diodes (PL515, PL520 and NDG4216)?

I have seen thisbin Laserlands store .its semm like laserlands use it in his product "5mw FDA class 510nm laser pointer" .quite interesting .

This is a two and a half year old thread. It is considered bad etiquette to post to an old thread as it wastes the time of those of us who have to figure out that it is a necro-post and not something new. Just in case you weren't aware.
