It's been brought to my attention that I did not do a proper introduction back in 2013 when I joined this forum.

My name is Jeff. I live in Tampa, Fl. I am an IT security tech with a BS in Computer Technology, 27 yrs exp. I also have my CET, Certified Electronic Technician certificate.

I have owned and enjoyed lasers since I bought my 1st 2-3 mW red HeNe back in 1985 from MWK, yes, I'm that old, 56. That was followed by a 5-7 mW red and then a .5mW 543 nm green HeNe. I still have all of them and they all still work perfectly.

I owned for a while, back in '96,'97 or so, an ALC 60X argon, 20mW, 488nm. The output tube stem was broken during a move and it was sold for parts with the PS.

Between school, a family, career changes, moving multiple times and finally a divorce in 2012, I did not do too much with my lasers.

I started experimenting with and collecting lasers again back in '13., when I joined this site, and things have changed a lot.

I currently own multiple DPSS green and red diode pointers and modules. As well, I have a Laserlands 520nm pointer. I have 3 different RGB and 1 RGV module that if the optics are alligned, can output white or close to it. I have several different Lumia and sound to shape scanners to put these RGB/RGV modules in.

As well, I have 2 ~500mW Chinese, no name, ILDA capable laser light show units, bought from a buddy who used to have a DJ business. One works as is, the other I am planning to upgrade to 30K scanners, possibly new diodes and analog modulation. The lasers work, but the scanners twitch and jump about.

To work with these scanners I have a LaserDock module. Connected to the computer, the LaserDock LaserOS and sound works great, even with TTL and 7 colors. I also have Lasershowgen to do my own stuff with, works pretty well.

Besides this, I have a couple of burning or off the wall kind of builds. The first is a DTR BDR209 module I built into a modified Nerf gun that is SteamPunk themed. It is 18650 powered and rechargable via USB. This is complete and working, can post more info if anyone wants to see it.

The second is a DTR 462nm module being built into a Halo USNC M6 blaster. Have the module, the blaster, heat sink and the batt, just need to start putting together. Will post a thread if anybody is interested.

Other than that, I am a tinkerer, like bulding my own things out of other things,I'm into lasers, Ford Mustangs, RC airplanes and quads. Have my own 3d printer, currently trying to learn SolidWorks CAD and 3DS-Max software to create 3D models and like spreading usefull info that can help others.

Jeff

Welcome back to LPF!
Great introduction, hope you enjoy your stay, it looks like you'll fit right in! :yh:

Can't wait to see your new builds!

Jeff ....yep another one.

Welcome back--enjoy the forum. Nice reintroduction. LPF is a great one as forums go.

Only 8 posts in 4 years. Don't be such a stranger, stop in more often and chime in on any thread where you see room to or the need to.
Lots of interesting threads on LPF, usually.

Interesting laser projects---good luck with them. Keep LPF updated.

LPF needs more good returning members and new ones too.

 Welcome back to the Forum Jeff...
Wow... I like your introduction. It seems
like I know you. Well done.

Continue enjoying your stay and be Laser
Safe.

Had to quote the OP ----well worth reading more than once.

Thanks guys. I've been a lurker longer than a member. I know some of you vets are sticklers for details and safety, lol. As you should be, this world is too full of questionable people.
It's the same in my other hobby, RC aircraft. Some people just have no concept of safety let alone the law and other peoples privacy and property rights. A simple Google search of mode regulationsl, AMA and the law, FAA and FCC, will show them what the can, cannot and "shouldn't" do!

I just wanted to have more of my pertinent info out there. I've owned and collected lasers since the 80's and still have most of them.

One thing I forgot though, was safety. I DO have multiple sets of safety glasses! From the ultra cheepos that come with the cheap 445 pointers, a set of WickedLasers glasses, the sleek looking design, that I bought with my LaserDock module and a set of EP1 190-540,800-1700, OD5+!

I do have a question though:
I have learned a great deal from this place and got a lot of great ideas.
I would like to post some pics/video of some of my builds. I think some are unique and may be liked or even helpfull to others.
I have built a couple pistol/pointer builds, some Lumia rigs and some different Lissuious/ sound to shape scanner units.

Where would be the best place to post them? In the General forum? It seems to get the most traffic. Or should they go into the color specific or even laser show forum, for the Lumia/scanners?

Just want to fit in and put things in the proper sections.
Thanks.

What I often do when making this choice... do a search ---find the section where most members post with alike threads are located AND in some cases I add my pics etc to an existing thread.....and if in doubt PM the OP for their OK to add your stuff.

This https://laserpointerforums.com/f76/ might be the place.

BTW I too failed for some time to post a 'proper' intro...never too late really-- and IMHO it shows much respect for LPF whenever you post your intro. Same with failing to place SOME info as to your location.

I would suggest that you open your own Thread/s.
If you are combining different wavelength Lasers then
Post it in the General section.
If you make Threads for each Wavelength then I would
open a Thread in each color sections...

Hijacking someone else's Thread is not really a good
option... IMO

Jerry

OK, here's an example. I know not to hijack a thread, so I start a new one, new build something different. I have a DTR BDR209 module that I built into a highly modified Nerf pistol. Self contained with an 18650 battery and USB port to recharge. It has been painted to look like a Steam Punk pistol. Even though it is 405nm/BlueRay, the build tech would be applicable to most any other 3v-4v module. With a larger pistol, you could cram 2 bats, ~7.4v inside, that's what I'll be doing with my 462nm Halo pistol , so it's kind of general, but with a specific diode/wavelength. So, the question is: BlueRay or General? Sorry to re-ask, just want to go with the flow

OR.. as I suggest use the 'member collection' section where ALL your projects can be posted.... as you have a collection and you are a member.

I would never suggest thread hi-jacking. Just where someone got that idea I have no clue--maybe a troll???
