I hope to be in thailand again in a month or two, always nice. Now figuring out if going to birma as well is a viable idea this time around

I'd be very careful going into Myanmar. Best to go by plane to Yangon with a visa from your local (Burmese Embassy).
One thing to mention is if going in by land transport it is perfectly normal to expect to have your passport confiscated at the point of entry by Myanmar border guards and then upon exiting, being charged to get your passport back.

Also, when doing exploring, do be extremely careful on the North Frontier near the Chinese border as it is a hot zone of conflict, banditry, and UXOs.

Hehe... that sounds like a risky proposal... i'll be off to thailand in a bit over a week or so though.

Then again, if people annoy me i tell them 'patpong pingpong' is a discount code phrase for taxi's from the airport, which is hilarious after dark
