o-like 1.2W 445nm

They (and all chinese like in Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia etc) just had a tomb sweeping session which lasted 3 days officially for China. Actually some of us did it last Sunday, 10th April. So it is still going on, as my colleague is only doing hers today.

I have some LED downlights from a lighting company in Guangdong which I ordered on 30 Mar and is only going to ship this 16th (it is already extended since original agreement is like 5 days processing, or April 3rd). They emailed me that they need me to further extend the processing deadline till 28th April as they could not get the reflectors in time from their suppliers. I told them if this is the case I'd like to cancel, and they said they will pay extra to get the suppliers to rush the shipping to them.

Seems like peak period for them. Chinese New Year is also a bad time, just as Christmas is to you guys in the west. :)

I emailed them, at least they reply. If you cannot wait and if they really have supply issues, then just have to communicate with them, this is key.

If a company charges extra for "expedited" shipping and than doesn't deliver "expedited" shipping, my point of view is that the difference should be refunded. Regardless of the time of year, or the country where the business is located.

I have customers myself, and sometimes life gets in the way, but bottom line is if I can't deliver a result on time, I'm not asking my customers to pay extra for speed. Usually this isn't an issue though because I build a relationship on reasonable expectations, and provide a safety margin for myself to accomplish what I promise in the time I promise.

Then I guess there shouldn't be any issue, since you could have just asked for a refund if you feel so strongly about it?

This is because in my case, > 50% of my purchases should have been refunded then.....if i were to follow the norm 3-5 business days max for processing.

4 aliexpress stores and Anaka.com refunded my $$ immediately when I asked.....as their products were really out of stock. I purchased 3X from manafont (HK), they are the most consistent, all my 3 orders were shipped out the same day I made payment in the early morning!

Else its going to be pretty difficult and it just literally means you won't be getting much of the stuff that you are interested in.

Hmm, let's see, order placed on the first. Expedited shipping is supposed to have it to me in 4-6 days. Right now it still shows as "In Transit", so we're already at DOUBLE the promised time frame.

I do intend to ask for a refund, but so far only 1 out of 4 orders has been as promised. If the this last order is not up to spec, and if the replacement part doesn't fix the issue, I do fully intend to ask for a refund. If a refund is not forthcoming I do intend to file a dispute.

I'm also waiting for a faulty laser, near DOA that I received, to be received back by them and examined so that I can get either a refund or a replacement. Either way I'm out $62 on original shipping and shipping back to them.

Forgive me if I seem bitter, but I don't think it's too much to ask to actually get what you pay for... is it?

I hear ya. I had the same "issue" with WL with my 100mW greenie in 2005 or so, but fixed it with 1 round of RMA. I waited about 3 weeks and my country is supposed to enjoy slightly faster shipping compared to USA.

Even Ankaka/Manafont asks customers to test their system with a small order if they do not trust them. So I tested with a relatively cheap 405 from O-Like. :)

The good thing for you, is that they usually are pretty ok nice people. As you would have seen in many aliexpress stores, "please do not leave negative feedback. You have to tell us the problem, we are open to negotiations. If we do not know of the problem or you do not tell us what you want, we wouldn't know".

I had a lot of fun with my new 1.2 O-like laser last night. the beam expander lenses were cool too. problem is the beam now goes very dim after a few seconds and goes out soon after.

I thought it might be a flat battery so I fully charged it, however the problem still persists :cryyy:

I have just sent a message to Susie and await a reply,I will keep you updated on the outcome.

Its a shame as this laser took around 5 weeks to get to me after being ordered and is the second faulty laser in a row.Im not criticising O-like lasers or the Company as I know that these things can happen, Im just gutted!

has anyone else had this problem before? or have an idea what it could be?.

many thanks.

That sucks. Wouldn't be such a big deal, but with the long shipping it's always such a pain.

I had a similar effect with one of my cheaper green lasers after I put the battery in the wrong way... It would come on, be ok for 1-4 seconds than start to dim very quikcly and die. That was $40 down the drain, although I'm pretty sure the diode is fine.

So far mine is working great. I mean I don't know if it is actually 1.2W, but it burns only a little slower than an LPMed 1.5W laser... so it's in the right area.

At least yours is working well!.

I have had a prompt reply from Susie(their customer service appears spot on) and she instructed me to send my 1.2mw O-like laser back to them stating that they would replace both of my faulty lasers as long as they hadn't been abused( not in these exact words however that was my impression)

these are the messages sent and received from O-like and I...

"Dear Susie,

I have recieved my laser thankyou,my laser worked very well at first, however my laser goes very dim and then the laser light goes out within a few seconds now.

I fully charged the battery but the problem still persists.

its a shame as my other laser(ref 1926) had a fault also!

please advise

many thanks

Robert "

I received this response -

"Helllo Robert

It is very strange . we test them both well before shipped out
and our other customers use them very well , no defective until now
Is operastion problem at your ends ? do you put battery rightly ?
You send it back also ,then we willl check them both
If they are both is our faulty ,we will pay the shipping fee at your ends

Is it ok ?

Susie "

my reply -

"Hello Susie,
Thanks for your reply. I know that the positive battery terminal goes to the tail end as described on your website,("+" towards tail cap.)

The laser performed perfectly at first, but now unfortunately has this fault.
I am upset that a fault has happened with my last 2 lasers but I am not criticising O-like lasers or your Company as I know that these things can happen.

I trust that your customer service is exemplary as reported in laser pointer forum.(I am keeping them updated) The 200 mw red and 400 green laser that I have received from you are working flawlessly.

I will post the item and hopefully have a resolution to this matter soon.

Yours thankfully

Robert ."

and lastly after informing them that I had posted the faulty item, the most recient response from Susie -

"Hello Robert
We definitely give you best solution ,if it is our faulty , we will pay the shipping fee
and pick up two best new ones to you

Thanks
Susie "

**UPDATE**

I have received my O-like 400mw green laser!, its really bright almost too bright(if thats possible!) and burns very well. At least I get to play with this whilst waiting for my 1.2w 445nm lasers to be sent to me.

I will keep you informed>

Good idea. I might start posting my exchanges as well. Definitely gonna ask that she cover my shipping fee as well... I mean I've had problems with 2 lasers from them so far.

Gonna hold off until I have LPM and can test mine though. I'm just hoping the ones I have, and working.. that they are up to spec.

Hello,

I would like a lpm but I don't have a big enough collection yet to justify the cost.

**UPDATE**

I have found the problem with my faulty 1.2 O-like laser!. . . it is the battery charger that I recieved with it!. when I recieved my 400mw green I noticed that it had the same battery & charger as my 1.2mw blue, so I put the battery from my 1.2 blue into my 400mwgreen and the same problem happened as my blue (It went dim very quickly!).

I notice that when I tryed to charge it the green light would come on straight away(indicating that it didn't need charging), when I put the same battery into my green laser charger then the red light went on imediately! (indicating that it was charging the battery), so after a good charge I tryed the battery in my green and it worked perfectly!.

There was no way of my finding out this problem before as I recieved my 400mw green after I sent back the 1.2mw blue. (I never sent back the battery and charger with the 1.2 blue to minimise customs confiscating it!)
so, I have sent back a perfectly good laser!!!

That sucks. The 1W+ lasers drain 18650 batteries pretty fast, and when the battery is low, it just doesn't turn on for me, there isn't a perceptible weakening of the beam.

The good news is there is nothing wrong with the laser... the bad.. well you know.

Overall to date I've spent around $80 just on batteries, and I'm not even buying high end ones. The chargers from o-like are super cheap, one of the ones I got also goes straight to green, stops charging no matter what I put in there.

Edit: 18650 batteries. Spend way more on CR123s.

I received one of these today and it seems to be very close to the specifications...

@ptt

Is that peak or stable? I'm waiting on my laserbee, I'm very curious to also see how much the waterproofing lens takes away in terms of power. According to Susie as much as 100mW, but I highly doubt it's anywhere near that high.

Will post results hopefully this weekend (Canada post doesn't seem to update very often).

Good to know, and by O-like logic it is up to spec. They claim to test the lasers to be at least 1.1W but without the waterproofing lens. According to Susie the waterproofing lens can account of a loss of 100mW. Personally I take both these claims with a grain of salt, but so far this laser has had positive reviews from everyone who's gotten it. I'm among those who are happy with mine.
