Notice: Google is terminating Google Checkout in November 2013.

As is typical Google, they are terminating yet another product of theirs. Google Wallet will also NOT be a suitable alternative as it is only for digital goods. If you are selling products using Google Checkout you should switch to some other service.

On a similar note, Google yet again proves that they are untrustworthy for any new services they may offer, as they frequently kill them off when they're not meeting expectations. Why Google expects their Google+ will compete with Facebook given Google's track record is beyond me.

They are killing it, yes.
I thought they were replacing it with Google wallet though? Same thing, different name, right?

Thats what I thought, like you could even pay with google wallet when you go certain places in person too.

"Merchants selling physical goods will need to switch to third-party alternatives"

Looks like they aren't moving it to wallet.
They want you to transition to Braintree (see link in OP)

Side note: I love google wallet on my phone, It's so convenient.

Nope, as pointed out, Wallet will be no good for anything but digital goods. We all get stuck with Paypal again. :|

Just USE BITCOIN!

I did for a while.

I find it too hard to use effectively if you're only a casual.
You're either with it, or not with it. So far as I know, there's no good middle ground.

My only complaint about Paypal is how hard it is to get money on there without using your bank account. I like keeping my funds in cash form.
