New use for dead diodes!!

So I had a dead diode on the table a few weeks back.
I was hanging out with a few people when one of my friends just picked up the diode and fit it in her slightly gauged ear.
Apparently she has fuzzy ears on camera. HA!
Anyways I thought it was a cool idea, So I'll be saving my dead diodes now!

Whatever floates your boat. If they still emit some light I use them for optics as they aren't a laser anymore but they still have a very small emitter area along with some funny colors.

Like my 200mw red dilda that died looks like a 5mw but more orange.
 
Also i'd be worried about possible toxic compounds in the diodes.

I might be overdoing it but it might be something to look up if you're gonna put them on your skin
 
That is a good point! I wouldn't think the casing or emitters would hold any different toxins compared to any other bogus jewelry out there. She also only had it in for the pic. I will have to look into this If I plan on having anyone do this long term.
Thanks for the suggestion as I probably wouldn't think of that. Being a full time mechanic I rarly think of toxins and such.
 
she had plans for gluing an actual pin on it... so that would seal those.
 
ide like to think you mean the rest of the diode... but I know you mean the rest of my friend Anna! Ha!

No, when I first saw it I was like "WHAT THE HE- oh".

I guess "Diodes" can look pretty close to "Bodies" if you're just skimming. :)
 
That DOES make me ask what the OLD uses were for dead bodies or dead diodes?
